One of main points of contention has been players' dismay w/so-called "mini" MLE that only lets tax teams offer $3 mil over three years

66 games = each team can play another team 2 times (1 home 1 away) + additional 1 game for teams in same division + a few spare games for same conference opponents.

66 games could just as well be 2 games for 25 non-division teams(50 games) and 4 games for 4 division opponents(16 games).

There would be an even number of road/home games for division opponents to prevent one team from have a 2 to 1 home road advantage against division teams.

As long as we have not reach a point where no agreement=no season, I doubt anything gets done. They'll most likely take this down the wire IMO before all the lawsuits actually start going into effect.

. @HowardBeckNYT reports players hired Jim Quinn to close deal. He appears to have replaced Kessler as lead negotiator. nyti.ms/uxeJ1d

Stern and Kessler loathe each other. Removing Kessler from lead role and putting measured, reasonable Quinn in room could be huge.

Multiple sources are reporting that the owners and players will continue preliminary negotiations to settle the players' pending antitrust lawsuit on Friday.
The sides are starting where they left off and most reputable scribes are parroting cautious optimism, as the league seeks to implement a 66-game schedule starting on or before Christmas. Observers have been through a roller coaster of positive and negative reports, but the various legalities and economics support the case for optimism here. Adrian Wojnarowski writes that in order to hold the number of games that both sides want, a deal would need to be agreed upon early next week. We agree, and it looks like we'll be getting an answer sooner rather than later. How u.

Lol look at rotoworlds blurb adding the how u at the end

ESPN's Ric Bucher reported news from a source on Sportscenter Wednesday night, saying that David Stern is prepared to improve the owners' offer, but that he will cancel the season if the players do not accept.

Here it is. The players did well to finally decertify and gain the last bit of leverage they will ever have, but Stern is laying the hammer down and this is highly likely to be the last go-around. With Billy Hunter directing perhaps the worst negotiation in sports CBA history, we wouldn't put anything past his 'leadership,' but we don't think even he can screw this up. The players have zero resolve to sit out the 1-2 years required in their antitrust case, and this will be by far the best offer they see from owners. There is an outside shot the sides drag their heels one last time, too. Stay tuned.

How big of an improvement would it be? Would the full MLE for all teams and 50/50 split be enough for the Union?

As president of NBPA, Fisher and players have to protect selves from league charge that disbanding of union was a "sham" negotiating tactic.
