all players are lucky to be getting what they are, except the few true superstars in the league, and any young stars who are still on their rookie contracts

there are role players who make more than NFL pro bowlers. i dont feel sorry for these guys at all

And no one goes out there to see Lebron or Kobe play with college players against college players either. Whatever you may think of these rank-and-file players' marketability, the NBA as a system would not survive without them. Quit talking like no one outside the superstar matters. If that's the case we'd see Superfriends negotiating with the owners about non-max salaries.

He should have definitely done this much earlier. But I believe the players truly did negotiate in good faith, and they thought they could have gotten a decent deal if they conceded enough. Apparently, the owners want to blow them out of the water.

Even the NFL conceded SEVERAL new items to the players during its negotiation that favored the players. The NBA did not concede ONE single damn thing that is either kept as it was or better than before.

This negotiation has always been about the owners trying to suck everything and anything out of the players. The owners clearly won the battle. The players conceded to their 50% BRI.

And ******* they "had" to add in some "system" changes that restrict player movement. Really??? Parity? Please, the NBA will never have parity where every team has a legit shot at a championship. This is just a mirage to show the owners' greed. The players gave back around $1 billion, which would MORE THAN ENOUGH cover whatever losses they incurred last year (and I doubt the numbers they provided were anywhere close...). But let's just give the owners that anyways.

I don't blame the players at all for this. They showed backbone. Whatever consequences they'll face, I'm sure most of the players are prepared.

The only thing is the players should have done this MONTHS AGO. The hardlining owners NEVER wanted a season. There was no point in the players negotiating with these guys. Terrible timing by Hunter and co.

Can someone ask Stern how have the owners negotiated in good faith?

And Mr. Stern, the NFL did negotiate in good faith. They conceded several items to the players (for one, like no more 2-a-days).

And to the end of Stern's interview, he claimed there is no one to negotiate with now. Didn't he say this proposal was the last one before he went to the worse one where there would be no negotiation? Stop with the lies Stern.

The problem here is you don't actually know what negotiate in good faith means, it's nothing to do with what you give or take, it's about whether there is a genuine intent to get a deal done.

    Very rudimentary examples

ie if i tried to leverage you in a business deal just to drive up the costs of a competitor, that would be an example of not in good faith.

However if i tried to screw you, and get you to agree to a deal that you really don't like, but am fully willing to agree to those terms, then yes, i have negotiated in good faith.

As such, it's a legal point that's incredibly hard to prove and realistically just an addendum to other points, it has nothing at all to do with the terms, just whether my intent in offering them is legitimate.

While the NBA may have a point about the union's and agent's unwillingness to provide the deal to their members for a free vote, it's arguably very weak, although technically plausible, there is zero indication the owners weren't willing to sign what they offered.

Some players are complaining about not having a say in the matter, ie not happy about 30 reps deciding for 400+ players.

Kobe, Blake, Martin, Big Baby, Battier, T-Will, and Scola all wanted to either take the offer or be able to vote. It'd be interesting to see a poll of the actual number of players who wanted to take the deal.

Ill try to put this in lamens terms as easily as possible.

-The players are basically sueing the NBA and its owners.

-Their lawyers have up to two business days to filed the charges.

-It could take up to four weeks for the legal paperwork to get to the assigned Judge for trial.

-From there on out, you are look at a federal court case. As seen in previous Anitrust litigation cases, MOST continue on for YEARS.

*However, alot of things can happen in the meantime to settle before a judge ever puts anyone up on the stand, and the likelihood here is that main reason this was OK'ed by the players was so agents could now communicate directly with ownership for their players for their services.

Also from what Ive been told, the legal team of the NBA could reach out directly to players to get a settlement. If The NBAs lawyers do not reach out to the players lawyers then the judge continues to see through case, and ultimately claims a victor in who knows how much time.

Of course, I am not a lawyer, and most lawyers, including the one the players have hired to represent them, do not know the full complexities of this case and what the expect from here on out.

The good news now is that David Stern and Billy Hunters sorry A$%'s are no longer running the show. I would not be surprised if either today or tommorrow the owners call for David Sterns resignation.
