I know the feeling. I am hoping that they are building up on the negative to surprise us all with a deal being struck.

So the players are determined to get a "fair deal" at "any cost". If they are truly that clueless, they deserve what will happen.

Hearing bad things about owners' position heading into bargaining session today. See next few tweets...

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
According to person in contact with ownership side, owners have "questions" about system issues -- even those already agreed to.

And even if players signal willingess to go to 50-50, there's no guarantee owners will, the person said. Could be a rough day.

    sigh...

I will not be surprised if the players go down to 50/50 today...nothing definitive, just a sense I'm getting from some conversations....

I've been fairly on the owners side throughout this whole debacle, but if it's true that the players would go from 52 to 50/50 BRI split and the owners STILL reject that, I don't know what to say.

I mean, going from 57% all the way to 50% is a mass concession on the players part, you mean to tell me the owners can't make some concessions as well?

**** Jordan, Sarver, Gilbert, Sterling, Maloof, and the rest of the hardline owners!

Hopefully the sides actually want a season. This can end today if the players are willing to go to 50/50 and the owners are willing to keep the system they negotiated while splitting it 50/50.

It's an extremely long shot though.

The players royally blew it when they didn't agree to 50% when the owners first offered it (or shortly thereafter) with the ludicrous notion they would get a better offer later. A few people on this forum also bought that silly line. Since then, the owners have lost revenue as a result of cancelled games and it's no surprise to me if they reduce their offer today. I'm ticked off the players would dither so long when this could have been settled earlier.

I'm ticked off to the point if no agreement is reached today, I hope the players get crushed. After this is all done, we'll see how much they "protected" future NBA players.

Remember, the owners were going to lower their offer on account of the missed games. The players should have taken the split weeks ago and salvaged the season. Now they want 50/50? Give me a break...

The way I see it, we have two scenarios.

    1. The players try to outlast owners to get a "fair" deal. They will most likely wait the entire year, with the strong possibility of desertification. Next year they come back with absolutely no leverage and either cave or apply the same self destructive approach. All the while more and more players get angry with union, as they have accomplished nothing except a missed season and likely a worse deal.

    2. Players realize they have absolutely no leverage and take an "unfair" deal, given to them by their bosses. They continue getting paid millions to play basketball in a very poor economy. The system issues are fixed, players avoid future losses on the deal and on the season, and we see basketball this year.

I'm gonna go with #2 guys...

It is not that big of a concession in truth, revenues continue to go up, and their salaries will as well.

Meeting (finally) under way, about an hour late. Additions to owners' LRC: Paul Allen (yikes) and Michael Jeffrey Jordan (double yikes).

    daldridgetnt David Aldridge
    Among player extras: Chauncey Billups...

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
No official word on non-committee players attendance, but Chauncey Billups was spotted entering meeting.

Owners had extended meeting amongst themselves before meeting w/players. Suspect arguing over rev sharing caused delay as much as BRI talk
