    Has this been posted?

It seems that none other than Jordan is a hardliner.

This doesn't surprise me. One, he's always been very corporate. Two, he's super competitive. Three, it must have disgusted him seeing lesser players getting bigger paychecks. Four, he's looking out for his own interest, he has no allegiance to the players, nor should he.

"That group backed an initial proposal that would have cut the players’ share to 37 percent (from 57), eliminated guaranteed contracts, rolled back current salaries and imposed a hard salary cap. The league has since dropped those demands over the objections of those owners."

    who was in this group?

Sounds like every wild cat from both sides will be in the same room tomorrow. George Cohen might need a security team to keep fights from breaking out.

Sorry for not following the rules of the thread, but I really don't see this lasting 2 seasons. I'm sure 1 season is very possible, but 2 might even kill the careers of a fair number of players.

It seems as though Michael Jordan is the leader and face of the 10 or so hard line owners who want to push for less than 52/48 BRI split from the players. It would be interesting to see how this affects his relationship with the players he has under the Jordan brand, i.e Carmelo, CP3, and others.

This is what i was thinking. The rank and file outnumber these guys, just like the hardline owners are outnumbered by the others.

The issue is a complete non-starter as long as a season is possible. No way 50% of the players vote to decertify.

All that needs to happen is for the union to allow a vote. Quickly.

NBPA & Michael Jordan sorta on same side: Trying to get most $ they can out of Dolan, Buss, Prokhorov, Reinsdorf, Grousbeck, Arison, Cuban

Because this is when a deal gets done. RT @rehforlife: @alanhahn why meet tomorrow if literally everyone is saying disaster tomorrow?

Source tells me the decertification conference call on Thur. wasn't quite like it had seemed - "It was equal education," the source said.

    sam_amick Sam Amick
Some players pro decert, others talked about 50-50, some voiced that they didn't want decert. Players being more pro-active at crucial time.

Ray Allen tells the Globe that decertification conference call merely talking "options" and not dissatisfaction with players union #celtics

Conclusion I've reached today: decertification threat may be hollow if deal struck this weekend, even at 50-50. Will explain in next tweet

    HowardBeckNYT Howard Beck
Ratification vote on new CBA would happen in 7-10 days -- thus preempting the entire decert campaign, which takes two months.

    HowardBeckNYT Howard Beck
So if "disillusioned faction" wants to dissolve union, it would first have to defeat the new CBA by majority vote, then start decert drive

    HowardBeckNYT Howard Beck
Once a proposed deal gets to the players for ratification, it may be very difficult to convince a majority to kill it and go to court.

Seems quite a few tweets downplaying tone of decertification calls. Makes you wonder if they'd actually be able to go through with it.

Players generally like Hunter a lot. Many agents might want to run him over, but not sure many players would get on the bus for the ride.
