Have to admire owners' strategy. Revised offer puts onus squarely on players to accept deal -- bad or not -- or be blamed for armageddon.

Several agents tell Y! Sports they have 200-plus player signatures for union decertification petition and paperwork could be filed Friday.

To put it another way: How many tweeps will examine the deal and applaud the players for not taking a bad one, even if costs the season?

The minimum payroll is going to be 85 percent. That's not a new addition to deal. It's in my report yesterday.

The owners' offer is a 50-50 BRI split, sources say. But early indications are, not as meaningfully different on system as Stern portrayed.

A 72-game season starting mid-December sounds totally awesome to me! NBALPBB will be solid gold. I wonder if there will be more games each week on national TV.

I think the pressure on the union to accept the offer will be enormous. They will grudgingly do so and whine about the sacrifices they made to finally give the fans basketball.

Forget Monday or Tuesday. Player feedback starting tomorrow should give us a good idea of where this thing is headed.

Owners tweaked sign-and-trades for tax teams, forbidden under previous proposal, "slightly," source says.

Is it possible that both sides just want to buy enough time to secure arena dates, have a tacit agreement? Congrats to David,Billy, Derek etc

I doubt the players accept the offer.

The seven major agencies will likely get together on a conference call Friday, but nothing scheduled yet, agents say.

For players, start of the decert process doesn't preclude them from agreeing to owners proposal next week. Yet it does give them options.

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Mini mid-level, as I reported earlier, goes from two years starting at $2.5M every other year for tax teams, to three years starting at $3M.

Don't have full details of revised owners' proposal, but league barely moved on most of important system issues, sources say.

From team executives to agents, a lot of questions about why union needs to wait until Monday or Tuesday to bring player reps to New York.

Hearing from players, most very interested to see how far the NBA moved on the tax issues.

Let's get player reps to NY to review proposal this weekend. They are all available - "trust me"...

Growing desire among frustrated players and "Super 7" agents to start decertification clock Friday, sources say. Final decision forthcoming

As one Eastern Conference executive just texted about 72 game sked: "Instead of (the players) missing two checks, they will only miss one."

There were small tweaks. Example: Source close to matter says league has offered opt-out after Year 6.

If the deal won't get better than this, it makes no sense to wait. Decertification is not a threat the owners are going to take seriously.

My tweet from Sept 28: "Stern says both sides have to decide this weekend if there's going to be a season or not. Real date...Dec. 15th."

Owners' new offer includes new $2.5 mill exception. Also, will raise minimum payroll for teams (used to b 75% of cap, will now b much higher)

    ZachLowe_SI Zach Lowe
Another tweak, per source close to talks: Teams under cap who then spend up to it would get a little exception, worth $2.5M, to spend.

I think it depends on how they sell it to the player reps. Last time they carefully laid out RT @Mac_Diego: i think this is a done deal.

    LarryCoon Larry Coon
...the reasons it was a bad deal. This time, if they go over it and say, "this is the best deal we could negotiate. it's this @Mac_Diego

    LarryCoon Larry Coon
...or decertification....what do you think?" then I think they accept it. @Mac_Diego

Snap take: if deal kills value of free agency for all players for the next 10 years, how does anyone shame them for balking at it?
