For those confused on 49-51 BRI band, join club. But I will explain as best I can in next couple of tweets.

Mediated deal tough to outline with clarity in 140 characters. 49-51 BRI band, MLE concessions and taxpayer penalties are major parts.

Here's what I think this comes down to by Wednesday for the Players Association: Accept deal, or decertify union and blow up season.

alright union, the don just made you an offer you can't refuse, and was even in a good enough mood to give you a few days to think it over. now you can either cut off your nose to spite your face or take the deal and have a season (how u). if i'm one of the 400+ players not on the union negotiating committee, i get in contact with the committee and let them know that i actually like my nose and would like to make a couple million dollars to play basketball for the next year, so get a damn deal done. let's save our principles for when we're rich.

Players would get 50 percent up to projected revenues (which estimate 4.5 pct. growth).

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
For revenues beyond that, players would get 57 percent up to an overall ceiling of 51 percent. The floor would be 49 pct. for players.

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
It's a 50-50 deal up to projected revenues. If business does better than expected, players get 57 pct of the 1 pct. between 50 and 51.

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Several other system compromises were proposed by owners, at Cohen's suggestion. Still sorting through those.

Other aspects of deal discussed tonight problematic for union, but none so much as cutting off richest teams from the player market.

    alanhahn Alan Hahn
Stern basically giving union membership 72 hours to push leaders to accept season-saving offer. Or do they take the poison pill? #NBA

Yeah but there's an overall ceiling of 51%. So from my understanding, if revenues exceed the threshold by 0.01/0.57 = 1.75% of threshold the playrs would get less than 57% of that excess.

    One was a mini-midlevel for tax-paying teams -- two-year, $2.5 million. Non-tax-payers can offer $5M mid-level for 3 or 4 years.

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
For the regular mid-level, a team can offer a 4-year deal one year, three the next, etc.

    http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-wojnarowski_nba_labor_talks_110511

Stern’s ultimatum comes with the backdrop of player agents actively canvassing their clients to determine if there were enough votes to move forward with a decertification vote on the union, agent and player sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Before proceeding, agents and players were waiting on the outcome of the weekend’s labor talks. Several agents and players believed support would grow for a vote on dissolving the union without significant progress on a deal.

Agents and players took part in two conference calls this week on the subject of decertification. Boston Celtics star Paul Pierce(notes) has taken a lead in spearheading those discussions, sources said.

Several agents believe there’s enough support to get the needed 30 percent of players to sign a petition for a formal decertification vote, but agents and players are dubious about the ability to get the over 50 percent needed to eventually disband the union.

After the petition is filed, a 45-day waiting period is required before an actual vote. For the players, it’s a risky proposition, at best. The eventual dissolving of the union could lead to an antitrust lawsuit in federal court against the NBA, or merely the threat of it pushing the owners to a more favorable agreement with the players out of the uncertainty of how a court ruling could adversely affect the league.

Y! Sources: As Stern makes drop-dead offer to players, agents working to gauge player votes for decertifcation.

Fisher: Today is anoher very sad day for our fans, for arena wokers, parking lot attendants, our vendors. Very frustrating, sad day.

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Fisher: We are at a lost for why we could not close it out with the moves we made toward the league.

    alanhahn Alan Hahn
No Billy Hunter at #NBPA presser. Said to be "under the weather" and losing his voice. Fisher talking, Kessler present.

    WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Fisher: "We made true, good faith efforts to get deal done tonight, and we're at a loss for why we could not close it out..."

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Fisher: We made moves that were extremely significant. We made economic moves that were a genuine attempt to close the gap.

    sam_amick Sam Amick
Agree RT @SBRadio If deal presented by Stern put 2 vote by players I'd think it would get majority favor. Many players want 2 make deal.

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Fisher: We moved towards the NBA and put together a package, an offer ... around a 51 percent deal.

    WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Fisher says players offered a 51 percent deal to NBA.

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Fisher: A portion of 51 perent would go towards a new benefits program that would significantly impact the lives of retired players.

    ZachLowe_SI Zach Lowe
Players are down to 51% now, per Fisher. So...

    WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Fisher: "We believed that the economics should've been over at that point..."

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Fisher: If we continue to try to meet you on the economics, we need a fair system.

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Fisher says union has been told "we could ot see losing the season over the syystem."

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Fisher characterizes owners' offer as "ultimatum" with "a system that is not a fair system."

    WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Fisher says that players wanted "a fair system" with willingness to drop to 51 percent on revenue split and owners wouldn't do it.

    ZachLowe_SI Zach Lowe
The two sides, are, basically, one percentage point apart on BRI. Perhaps not even, given various revenue possibilities.

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Fisher: We've made the effort ... It just doesn't seem to be good enough for this particular group of owners.

    WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Fisher: "We're not sure if it's the commissioner himself, or number of individual team owners who are driving this conversation..."

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Fisher says mediator never actually proposed any formal ideas or concepts.

    WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Fisher: "The mediator never actually proposed any formal ideas, or concepts. He did suggest, 'What ifs..."

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Fisher: What the mediator did suggest to us were what he called 'what ifs.'

    WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Fisher: "We disagree with the idea that the NBA adopted these positions...."

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Fisher says players were not given chance to formally respond to these what-ifs. Says owners broke off talks with ultimatum.

    Monroe_SA Mike Monroe by sam_amick
Yep RT @MrMichaelLee If players decide to decertify, eliminate season, they honestly can't expect to get better deal next year

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Fisher: "There's no way in the world we'd ever get to 51. So it's not a band."

    WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
Fisher: "We did not get sense that they came here with intent to get this deal done..."

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Fisher: We just did not get the sense that they had the intent to get this deal done. We were prepared to stay here til the sun came up.

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Fisher: We've been given the ultimatum and our answer is that's not acceptable to us.

Fisher: At this point we don't have a deal to propose (to players that they would pass).

    KBergCBS Ken Berger
Fisher says players could agree to "maybe one" of the what-ifs proposed, but some work would be needed on that.

    alanhahn Alan Hahn
Asked if he'd take #NBA's offer to the membership for vote, Derek Fisher says, "At this point, we don't have a deal to propose."

Oh, drop this crap right now. Players could care less about arena workers, and the fans know it.
