This is not intended to be offensive (but I'm sure will be spun that way...), but you have to admit that those Congressmen/women of color defending Franklin Raines (Fannie Mae) HAVE to remind you of the people defending Kobe, OJ, and Michael Jackson. I think you should look at the three fingers pointing back at you. This has everything to do with the current problem and this stems all the way back to the 1977 passing of the Community Reinvestment Act by Jimmy Carter which was reinforced by Bill Clinton yet again in 1995. By allowing people to buy houses, who under normal circumstances would not qualify, you are basically flooding the market with valitile, high risk loans like ARMs 80/20s, 100% finance, etc. In a liberal feel good sense it feels like the right thing to do, but from a fiscally conservative and principal based stand point you should not be getting a house unless you can put 20% down, have an emergency fund of cash in the bank and can afford a mortage of 15 years with a note not more then 25% of your take hom income. Anything else is in reality doing a disservice to the people falling prey to this feel good political notion.
