I don't understand why the Warriors, Green in particular, were taken aback by Morey's "obsession" comments. And to the analysts (forgot who, probably Max Kellerman) who say we should be focused on the Spurs since they beat us....the GSW are the obvious favorites to win rings for the forseable future...why would you put all your focus into beating the team below them? Why would you not obsess over beating the very best, as every team should always do, so that you can beat the Spurs and other secondary teams? NBA analysts are dumb.

 

Guys like Green just feed on stupid stuff like that. It's like when everyone mocked Harden for his "They ain't that good" comment, like he was some uppity trash talker, when it was something he said in a team huddle clearly to help motivate his guys, sort of a "They put their pants on the same way we do" thing. Insecurity, I guess.

Warriors can add it to all the other bulletin board material. Like “We are obsessed with beating the Warriors”

Capela knows that they are gunning for us (Rockets). We beat them 2 out of 3 this season.
They are not overlooking us, despite what they are saying.

 

There is more value in Capela and Morey and any other Rocket voicing their belief that they can beat the Warriors than downside aka bulletin board material for the Warriors. The Warriors are already going to play hard, that's why they're where they are, already going to think they are much better than the Rockets, already going to try to bury the Rockets because they best the Warriors 2 out of 3 this season. OTOH giving voice to your aspiration helps.
