jcdenton, You have such a short memory. It's strange you mention Landry and complain about the 2009 draft. Did you forget the 2007 draft and the 2008 All-star break? Many posters were critical that Morey drafted Landry instead of Glen Davis. After Big Baby's performance and the Celtics championship, posters were even more critical of him. Many fans couldn't understand why Morey drafted a loser like Landry over a championship roleplayer like Davis. Now, most Houston fans realize that it takes at least a sophomore season to see what it's there. There are still a few fans that have not figured that out.
In retrospect, this thread was pretty poor NEVER DOUBT THE MOREY!!! DO YOU UNDERSTAND??? And, as far as getting instant contribution from our draft picks, Chase Budinger has been damn good in that respect...I don't think Brooks or Landry were even regular rotation guys for most of the 2007 season. EDIT: Just checked Yahoo! stats, and indeed, Chase is averaging 19 mins/gm in his rookie season which is superb for a 2nd round draft pick. Those type of minutes suggests he is an important bench guy. Brooks averaged 11 mins/gm in his rookie season as a situational player and didnt really come into his own until his sophomore season which was last year. Landry averaged 16 mins/gm in his inaugural season as an important bench player but didn't even start contributing until halfway into the season. So Chase is actually doing better than Brooks and Landry if you compare his rookie season to theirs. And we all know Brooks and Landry turned out to be pretty good players.
Okay, fine. But we didn't have a pick, so I'm not sure what you're whining about ( unless you're going to say trading for Artest was stupid, which if you do, you can hop on my ignore list thank you very much. It's like saying that the Celtics shouldn't have traded for Garnett or the Lakers for Gasol as they gave up assets to get them.) < Good. >
Rockets did poorly in the 2007 draft, unfortunately we drafted brooks and landry when we could have had Marc Gasol instead of either of them. We stunk up the 83 draft when we drafted Sampson instead of Drexler. Did horribly in the 84 draft taking Dream ahead of MJ, barkely and Stockton. In 85 we took steve harris instead of Porter. 86, horrible mistake when we took Buck Johnson over Sabonis and Price. and so on... incase you havent noticed, pretty much every team, every year, has a poor draft based on your analysis. It's pretty much impossible to have a good draft, unless you're the one team who gets the best player that year. SO if that's the case, then it doesnt matter if we Houston had a poor draft because 28 others also did.
and Sac could end up having just as "poor" of a draft as we did, since Beaubois, who they passed on, may turn out to be better than Casspi. Taj Gibson, who went after Beaubois, could possibly be as well.
wats up with this man crush some of there people have for Dejaun Blair? remember this guy's legs are gonna give out in a few years MARK MY WORDS!he has no ACL did you forget about that.
HUH??? Budinger is developing nicely, Taylor has shown flashes but he was suppose to be a project anyway and Llull is an emerging player in Europe??? Blair has been a nice addition to an old roster but look at the numbers, Budinger and Blair have very comparable stats and IMO similar impacts on their respective teams.
Uh, as far as I'm concerned, we did pick the best player in the '84 draft. Aside from that, sarcasm on target.
Tell me, OP, is it difficult to always find the black lining in a silver cloud? That just seems like an awful lot of work. But hey, if it helps you think you're cooler and smarter than all the other kids in class, knock yourself out.
This forum has a bizarre fascination with Llull. I'm from Europe and Spanoulis is 10 times better than Llull could ever dream of being. This forum needs to get a reality check on Llull.
i agree with your flawless logic. please expand on our 2nd round draft picks forever ruining the course of the franchise... please RE: joey dorsey at his new email address as it has recently changed.
You can't say it's bad based only on what we didn't do. Ultimately we weren't in a favorable position going in, and came out with some positives. So based on the expectations we did pretty well.
Man, the Kings really botched their 2004 draft too. They picked this scrub named Kevin Martin as the 26th pick, so he got a guaranteed contract. Then he went on to only play 10 minutes per game in only 45 games. He's a shooting guard that could only average 2.8 points on 38.5% shooting, 20% from three, and 65.5% from the line! Bunch of idiots in that organization, who knows what they were thinking?
