Yes he is. C-Webb has one of the most charismatic personalities in sports. Too bad he's a two-faced, whiny, liar.
and F**k Ginobili. I can't stand the flops. I think I'm watching Stockton and Hornacek all over again.
Overrated is one thing (and I do think the '04 consideration was beyond silly), but O'Neal's absolutely spot-on as far as character issues go. And a gem for us mugs to deal with. Not saying you agree with him, but I can't only do so much with the quote function ...
He lied before a Grand Jury about receiving money as a college athlete. I don't really think that that makes him a rotten person, I just think it means he lied before a Grand Jury about receiving money as a college athlete. In my eyes, that's really not as bad as throwing punches at fans at an NBA game. Which is what Jermaine O'Neal did. And I don't think he's a rotten person either. Neither shows very good judgement, but I really do think that when you just look at it for what it is, attempting to inflict physical harm upon someone smaller than you is, without question, fundamentally worse than lying to save your reputation. Just my opinion though...
Duncan was okay in game 7, but 10-27 isn't the performance I expect from an all-time great, in a NBA Finals game 7. Although it was a short stretch, he did take over in the 3rd quarter when the game was slipping away.
lying in court is very bad thing, because you impact so many other lives when you do it. You either set a criminal free or you send an innocent man to jail. Both have a significant impact on so many lives. This is what the Clintons failed to realize. It's not about the lawyers attacking you, and someone wanting to bring you down, you have to ignore that, and you have to tell the truth, because we the people are all counting on you to do that.
WTF? Am I missing something here? Who else could possibly be Finals MVP? Duncan averaged 20.6 PPG (41.8%), 14.1 RPG, 2.1 BPG, and 2.1 APG. For comparison, Manu averaged 18.7 PPG (52.3%), 5.9 RPG, 1.1 SPG, and 4.0 APG. Granted, there were times when Duncan choked, and yes, he wasn't as dominant as before, but without his production, the Spurs lose in 4. Look, I'm not a fan of the Spurs myself, but give the man some freaking credit. If you think Horry's 10.6 PPG, 4.9 RPG, 1.0 SPG, and 2.1 APG are good enough for Finals MVP... you just might be a Duncan hater.
They wouldn't have won it without former rocket "big shot Rob". He is the MVP of the series. Duncan wilted under the pressure.
Yeah I was referring to the brawl. I don't know that much about Jermaine O'Neal but sucker punching a fan is a huge black mark on any pro-athlete's character.
Jesus. Horry won ONE game for them, and lest you forget, Duncan had 26 points, 19 rebounds, and 2 blocks in that legendary Game 5. If the MVP didn't go to Duncan, it would have gone to Manu.
Dunno...Duncan is awesome, but watching this series I never got the impression that he was the catalyst behind the Spurs success against the Pistons - in terms of huge game-altering impact. He got his numbers, but it was odd because this was one instance where it isn't easy to say 'well, they're winning because of Duncan' (which is usually the case). It seemed Manu's aggressive style and Horry's big time 3s were the biggest challenge for the Pistons. Not to say they were MVPs either...in fact, I'm hard pressed to say anyone on the Spurs was clearly the 'MVP'....which is likely the very reason it was just easier to give it to Duncan.
In terms of C-Webb, it's not so much that he lied to a Grand Jury (although that is exceedingly stupid). It's the fact that he went about the whole situation as if he was some unfairly targetted martyr. On and on he would say "the truth will come out" and profess his innocence over and over again with righteous indignation. And the way he goes about business on the court. Anytime something doesn't go his way, he walks around with the most annoying "put-upon" scowl. It's as if he's telling everyone in the world, "how could you do this to me". And there was that whole business about how the Kings were playing like "suburban kids", instead of kids from the city like him. Except C-Webb never played in the city. He was the one living in the suburbs and going to private schools and pretty much playing like a soft choker. Webber is just a two-faced hypocritical liar, and a poser.
Yeah, I thought Robert deserved it, but then I looked up his stats, and it's no comparison. I thought Horry was closer to 15/7, in which case he should've gotten the award.
The whole Pistons are so annoying. They make it seem as if they are victims to a vindictive society. "Nobody wants us to win. It's us against the world." Every time the referee called a foul on them, they whined to the refs, yet they hammered the other teams with rough play. Against Miami, they gave the Heat no credit, they said they lost to the referees. Billups had this air about him as if he were the next Jordan. Boo hoo I won't shed a tear for the Pistons.
