i went there for the first time last week (San Felipe and Voss) oh. my. god. i don't eat fast food much at all (once ever 4-5 months) - but holy hell i could get addicted to five guys' burgers... i had a cheeseburger... and damn was it good... second only to beck's prime - but the best fast food burger i've ever had.
I thought fries were pretty much interchangeable, UNTIL I went to Mighty Fine. Best fries I've ever had! The burgers are good too. I guess this is a fast food thread though, so it may not count, not sure.
I went about 2 weeks ago while visiting San Francisco. I absolutely loved it even as a Whataburger aficionado. I understand the complaints about the fries but I absolutely loved them and the burgers hit the spot like no other I've ever had. It definitely lived up to the hype for me. I had it a few times and tried animal style once which was also awesome. Overall Whataburger has a better menu but In-N-Out does what they do best.

I might be flamed for this, but the burgers from Chilli's blow away anything i've had, including Beck's Prime.
This. Animal style or not, In N Out is overrated. A burger requires mustard and jalapenos, neither or which you can find at In N Out. Whataburger wins hands down.
I get mustard on my in-n-out burger every time I go there. And here's the thing about In-N-Out fries... If they aren't cooked all the way, or too much they aren't good. Cooked properly they are the best. They are so fresh. Watching them put the potato through the slicer is awesome. To avoid soggy fries in a to-go situation leave the bag open. They might cool down a tad more, but they won't get soggy from being trapped in a steam bag.
In-N-Out is just such a great organization. They have kept their operation purposely small and centralized to keep ingredients fresh. They treat their employees a lot better than the large-scale burger joints, and that in turn creates better quality food, better customer service and an overall better "dining out" experience. A nice little reminder that almighty dollar doesn't come first for everyone. I gladly give them my business.
I got some when I went to Cali a few months ago. I love the animal style burger, but I thought doing it to the fries was a bit too much.
In-N-Out is great for me since it's different and I have limited access to it. But if there were locations here in Houston, I'd still end up going to Whataburger most of the time.
What about the Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich? It is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. And the freaking A1 Thick and Hearty Burger is incredible. There's nothing like that at In N Out.
I love the fries! I think having only a limited menu makes in n out so unique, i dont think they need the chicken sandwhich (obviously) It's what truly makes it the best burger chain in America.. Chilcutt
I'm actually not arguing whether What-a-burger or In-N-Out is better. I'm a fan of both. I might give the slight edge to What-a-burger but that could be because living in CA. I don't get it as often. I was just pointing out that if you did try In-n-out again you could definitely get Mustard.
