The City of Houston should erect a large monument of a astronaut or space shuttle in downtown.

Maybe bigger than the Statue of Liberty? What about putting this next to the new arena and hotel in downtown???

Also, what do you guys think if the Superbowl next could be in honor to those in Columbia and Challenger. It would be on Feb. 1st the one year anniversary.

I'd be shocked if there wasn't some sort of tribute at the Super Bowl...especially since it'll be a year to the day

I think the idea of a monument to all space travelers would be a great idea. I don't know if there is one already somewhere else, but either way, I don't know of any in Houston. I'd love to see us build one that is not only for Challenger and Columbia, but as a tribute to all astronauts.

There's a Challenger 7 memorial south of Houston, right off of I45, just before Clear Lake. It's a gorgeous park with walking trails, some of them elevated over swampy land.

"hero" is quickly becoming the most misused word in the English language...

A-Train is my hero for making a big point about this.

I basically agree, but not to the extent that it's worth posting in a situation like this one. Words morph over time, always do until a language dies.

Look at the word "awesome" and "gay," for instance.

Then there are words like "annoying," that have a rock solid, unchanging meaning.

    Conotation vs denotation.

I apologize for that last comment. It was a little out of line, now that I think about it. Those astronauts risk their lives every time they go up there, and it's definitely not a job that everyone could handle...I let my emotions get control of me for a minute...
