Myers may have lost that Jets game thanks to getting manhandled, but we couldn't stop their offense.

Also, everything broke just right for the Texans in Week 17, except the f'n Colts decided to not play their starters all the way in Week 16 against the Jets which gifted a win to the Jets to get them in over the Texans.

That would have been a great year to make the playoffs too. Foster was fresh after not having played the first 3/4 of the season. He would have been a load going into the post season.

Chiefs are tough at home and if the ravens can lose to the Texans with their 4th string QB, they can lose to anybody.

No matter what happens, I'm just glad we're playing a meaningful football game the last week of the season. And that the 'meaning' isn't because of draft position......

Chiefs are tough at home and the Browns are always a threat with Hoyer the Destroyer under center.

I agree. 16 meaningful games, IMO, means this year is a success.

There's a really strange psychology with some fans (see posts above yours) where unless the odds are 100%, they accept defeat prematurely and assume a loss as a defense mechanism. It's like they can't handle disappointment.

The "ah well, it was a good run" logic is asinine. There are way, WAY crazier Week 17 scenarios that have gotten teams to the playoffs than this. Back in 2006, the Chiefs needed FOUR teams to lose. One of them was the 6-9 Niners going into Denver and knocking the 9-6 Broncos out of the playoffs. It happened.

    http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2010/1/3/1231496/remember-week-17-of-the-chiefs

With the Texans' scenario, we know the Chargers and Ravens are fairly mediocre. All we need are two wins from teams with a combined 15-15 record (Chiefs/Browns). One of them is even at home. Is it likely to happen? No. Is there a realistic scenario where it does? Absolutely, yes.

Let's just see what happens and play it out. Going to be a fun Sunday. I don't see what curling up in a ball and assuming defeat does.

after 2 straight division wins by the texans, i had gotten used to the good life. then, last season happened. it was depressing from a football stance as I didn't even bother watching nfl playoffs. the only game i watched was the superbowl and that's only because i had hookers* over. this season, no matter if we go the playoffs or not, I'm excited just about watching football, any game.

the chargers just last season needed a miracle to get in. stuff happens in the nfl. see that 2 minute collapse by us.

*not actual hookers but friends who i call hookers as a term of endearment.

Still one of my favorite and definitely underrated Texans moments ever. IIRC we were down 14 in the 4th quarter, and scored 21 unanswered points. On the way Bernard Pollard picked off Tom Brady, Jacoby Jones had an acrobatic catch in the back of the end-zone, Mario Williams sacked Brady on 3rd down, and Foster (who had been moved up from practice squad a few weeks earlier) scored twice. Ah, good times, even if it was short lived.

Chris Myers? Are you talking about the week 1 blowout loss to the Jets? Why was it the centers fault, I can't remember much about that game?

They will want all games with playoff implications at the same time, per conference.

This! It's really not that far-fetched at all. It may not be statistically probable, but if it happened it wouldn't even be all that surprising. Last week when everyone was saying "So your saying there's a chance!" or "Lets lose out and get a better draft pick" I knew that if we won against the Ravens, there was a good chance we went into Week 17 with a legitament chance to make the playoffs.

Lol, literally the exact example I used to explain it to my friends, who think the season is over. It's like flipping a coin and getting heads 3 times in a row. You wouldn't expect it, but it's not at all impossible and not even very unlikely.

I think that was the game when Kris Jenkins "rag-dolled" Myers. But the whole team got ambushed that day by the Jets. Hard to blame the loss on just Myers.

Lol, I think he was being a bit sarcastic. There's a chance. It's not a great chance, but there's a chance. I wish I could hit 3 game parlays all the time, instead of slightly better than 1/8 times.

Man, I am still salty about the 49ers game on Saturday. If the 49ers kept the lead that would have given the Texans a better chance to enter the playoffs. But they blew it and because of that game I hate the 49ers. aaarrrgh!!
