This proves the point even farther that these are spot situations usually against opposing team benches.

Let's try to do a two man game centered around Eason and Martin for a entire game where opposing defenses concentrate on those two. See how that two man rating plummets.

If you think I hate Sengun, you are further proving my point you are unhinged.

The bottom 5 net rating 3-man combinations with more than 300 minutes played also have a common denominator in them.

Jalen is in 4 of those 5 as well.

    And those aren't spot minutes.

Neither are the top 2/top 3 combinations.

Gaslight away buddy, I'm not one one upset that people cheer too loud for a player I don't like.

Not sure why you're talking about net rating - the claim in the context of this thread is that Sengun is "above average" on defense, because he is part of an elite 3-man defensive rating fulcrum - to the extent the Rockets have any defensive anchors in the lineups data at all - it appears to be not Sengun but Eason who headlines those units (which more or less squares with the observational data).

There is no gaslighting. The fact you call people who support Sengun haters of him just because they call out the toxic fanbase of his shows how unhinged you are.

I'm replying to someone specially who said Eason and KMJ are our second and third best players based on our best three man lineups based on net rating.

My thoughts on Sengun as a defender is that no one on this team is going to look like a good defender because you have 10 19-22 year olds running around like headless chickens.

True. But is it also because his teammates know how to make good and timely entry passes, and good coach design and those same teammates are willing to pass the ball in the first place? Defense in the NBA is very much a team game and it takes all five players to be on the same page, cohesive, smart, and especially, willing to consistently give their best effort at stopping their opponents. All these elements seem to be lacking from the Rockets at this point. Jokic looks good but it's not only because he is really good but because his teammates contribute to who he is as an NBA player. Just imagine the reverse where Jokic is with the current Rockets and Sengun is with the Nuggets. After all, it's a team game.

Bc we have to run drop due to his ability to not be able to switch or apply pressure on the shooter. When he’s in drop, he doesn’t even protect the rim!! So like wtf does he do on defense?!? Absolutely nothing! I don’t care about these flawed advanced metric. I’ve seen some that has had Luka as a top 10 defender, which we know isn’t true. Sengun plays hard on D and still sucks bc he doesn’t have the tools! Luckily he’s really good on the other end

Talk about other player’s weaknesses, it’s true and the criticism is warranted. Talk about Sengun’s weaknesses, it’s false and you’re a hater. Okay, got it!

Yeah, like i said, defensive Raptor produces some weird results (like Jokic being DPOY caliber in 22 - like literally a fraction of a point behind Gobert for the overall lead, and a full 77 spots higher than the previous season) and the original post seems to omit these.

Basically all I'm seeing is that EG is our best defender. Gonna miss the guy.

I do think from eye test only Sengun struggles with drop coverage when our perimeter defender is bad ie Green or Matthew. When the opponent guard can shield off Green and Sengun has to guard both the ball handler and the rolling big, it's usually a free basket because Sengun simply doesn't have the length to contest. Length does matter in the NBA, Mobley for example can literally just jump up vertically and the opposing guard has to adjust his shot attempt. Sengun needs time and a runway to go for a block, and that runway time opens the defense

When someone like Tate and Gordon can put their body on the opposing guard while Sengun is in a drop, it creates enough disruption that works to our advantage.

I think Sengun is limited by his physical traits, but if you create a system of versatile defenders, he should still be fine as a disruptor/hustle type of player.

nice but you can do better than that...what you lack is minds length and width but you hustled enough not to become a hater

however i assure you you can work on that , grow and obtain some intellectual height and width so you can avoid looking limited and rigid in your comments and insights

sengun will be an elite defender
bear in mind he only played 10 full games of 35 minutes so far
and playing experience is essential in playing good defense and generally in doing anything on a high level
