This is what I think is in Bonzi's mind "Im not gettin no respect from Van Gundy and they're gettin me for 'cheap'. I'd rather party and enjoy since Van Gundy doesn't consider me that highly."
I think van gundy's mistake with this type of player is for not complimenting him enough and saying how important he is to the team. I know this is the wrong thing to do but it's BONZI. we all know he's got issues and a big ego. Just keep feeding his ego and we can get the most out of him.

 

He has complimented him. He called him an "extremely bright" player. That's generous.

In fact, I don't recall him once criticizing him publicly, beyong saying that he needs to get into better shape.

 

Why would you hope that?

 

I hope Berman is right, the rockets are really going to need Wells in the lineup against upcoming teams like the Suns.

 

He was doing that in the first couple games of the season, too...

The problem was that the shape he was rounding into was in fact round.

lol. I guess that's the reason why Berman used the word 'rounding' instead of something else.

 

For me the bottom line is Bonzi is a player who can make us competitive for a championship run in the playoffs. He is unfortunately a "bad attitude/bad chemistry" type of player. Thus, I am hoping once he gets back that we will already have our chemistry set and he will have to fit into that.

Basically, we will be using each other in the 2nd half of the season. The Rockets to compete for the Western Conference Championship, and Bonzi to land a decent contract next season.

Beyond the playoffs, I don't see any value in having a player of the low moral makeup of Mr. Wells around.

I'm not stressing about it, Bonzi knows he has to play well for at least half the season if he wants a good contract next season...likewise, he knows he will have to play by the same rules as the rest of the team. He is just testing the waters right now to see if management will give in and let him call the shots. I am glad we are standing our ground.

That said...can't wait to see Bonzi in the 2nd half and playoffs in a Rockets Uniform...

I guess we could have just cleared all the speculation up by calling to club to see if bonzi made it.

 

Is there a source that says Bonzi was really out partying that night? Lots of people are jumping to conclusions based on minimal evidence to whats going on in his private life...I think people need to knock it down a few notches before throwing out flaky accusations.

I have no proof the guy was there. We even have one guy saying he wasn't there (albeit a guy that cannot understand the greatness of Malick Badiane).

If you're going to crucify the guy for an appearance he was to have made, but you have no proof he made, then you're sad. Now if it's discovered he was there... hmm... well... that's another story.
