I always wondered about that as well. I hate that the Rockets are on 610. None of those jackasses there ask any good questions.
610 has been the longest-running game in town, and I suppose that has generated some complacency. The generally-middle aged guys have remained....nice, middle-of-the-road, boring....while the younger or edgier guys were siphoned off to the newer stations. So to stay "fresh", and because they had to replace those who left, they bring in John Lopez (sorry, but an aggravation at best, and hell on earth when he laughs) and that young turk from Louisiana (I'm so bad at names, Josh maybe?; he's sometimes spot-on, but has the attitude that makes you just want to give him a beat-down).
I totally understand the part about 610 being the longest-running game in town but they blow... There's a reason why most of their folks have left. John Lopez, Rich Lord, and others are probably the worse in the business. That Josh Ennis guy is cocky but he's dead-on with a lot of his takes. 1560 is a great radio station. I also think Matt and Adam do a great job as well.
They had Daryl Morey on in the morning last week. For some reason the podcast was removed. I downloaded the mp3.
My guess is that being the radio home of Rockets broadcasts also entitles 610 to some priority to Rockets personalities for air time.
