Its not made up bro. First they would have to meet in the playoffs. Second if this scenario was to play out, Im not saying he would, but its statically likely Harden and his squad would pick Westbrook apart.
Harden and his squad are certainly capable of picking Westbrook apart, but there's not gonna be this scenario where Harden dominates Westbrook because Westbrook has robbed him of an MVP award...nobody will even know who the official winner is during the 1st round
True, call me a conspiracy theorist but I believe it was done like that for a reason. The year Harden has the best chance to win it they want to change it all of a sudden? Seems like they want to give it to Westbrook but don't want that same scenario to even be a possibility.
Westbrook has completely taken the majesty out of triple doubling IMO. And I'm honestly not sure if that is a testament to him being great or his relentless stat padding. All I know is, when someone like Jokic does it, it's way cooler.
Zach Lowe (with Brian Windhorst on the Lowe Post, starts around 1:08:00) http://www.espn.com/espnradio/play?id=19085388
dammit, @zeeshan2, you have to stop burying all this gold in these threads! deserves it's own thread. I'm serious! I'm glad he said something about the stat padding, but the team being built around 2 superstars is dumb too. What about the trades they made at the deadline?
Bro i still cant see your picture without thinking that you are an oakland sports fan. U sure you arent a closet warriors fan? Lol jk
If people vote for Russell, it should be about the drive to wanting to close out badly, take the last shot. The stamina to actually be able to stat pad like this. The high motor and motivation behind the stats so to speak.
Stamina my ass. He's constantly resting on the other end until it's time to grab a uncontested rebound.
The real MVP is the OKC ownership, FO, coaching, and players for having the stomach and stamina to systematically produce WB's triple doubles
I don't get why people post this. They want him to get the board because he's initiating the fastbreak. Of course Adams is going to let him grab it when the only difference if Adams grabs it is that he'll waste time passing it to Westbrook. The clip immediately after that, Westbrook grabs the board and throws a full court pass that no one else on his team can throw. Both Harden and Westbrook are having ridiculous seasons and at this point, they both deserve to win it and would win it if they were in almost any other season.
If you can't tell that they are intentionally artificially inflating Westbrick's rebound numbers then you probably need to pick a different sport to follow. It's blatantly obvious that the number one goal of the Thunder is to pad Westbrick's stats and that's their primary focus.
In basketball a common expression is that he ball moves faster than the person. Also, have any of them really been given the opportunity? KD has essentially said in OKC he and Westbrook just took turns, and he left to play "basketball the right way" (paraphrased). Westbrook can't share the spotlight, Oladipo has a similar 3pt% (.371) as EGo (.375), but oladipo only attempts (5.3) 3 pointers/ game, whereas Gordon takes 8.8/game. Westbrook's style, while really fun to watch a one-man wrecking crew, completely marginalises his players. Here's a great quote by Bob Cousy about Wilt Chamberlin, that essentially explains why every other player on his team is having a down year: A quote from Bob Cousy regarding the first few years of Wilt's career. "Basketball is a team game. When it becomes a one-man operation, as it did after Chamberlain came to Philadelphia, it just doesn't work. You cannot expect nine other guys to submerge themselves and their abilities to one man. It particularly doesn't work when the man everybody else is feeding isn't helping the others whenever and wherever he can....the argument can be made that Chamberlain only suffers from a poor supporting cast. If you have a man who makes better than 50 percent of his shots, the argument goes, why shouldn't you concentrate on getting the ball to him whenever possible? Carrying it to it's logical conclusion, I would have to ask why should you ever let any other player on the team shoot at all. No, statistics mean nothing in basketball."
They are the Co-MVP because they traded away everyone from the OKC Finals years in order to accommodate WB's triple double.
Is this what it's come down to? Who cares about the ridiculous amount of turnovers and 40% and below shooting and extremely high USG? People are wowed by just the big 3 categories being filled up without a care in the world for anything else? This isn't a complaint about Westbrook alone. It's about the state of the league. Harden is no different. These are the best the NBA has to offer? Everyone feels like they're watching the greatest legends ever having the GOAT seasons and alI I see is a bunch of Michael Adams and Fat Lever's and Mark Aguirre's and Adrian Dantley's that were transported to today's era. Jerry Stackhouse played in the wrong era. HIs 30ppg on 40% and over 35% USG would fit right into todays game. He'd be a superstar and all anyone would care about is that shiny 3-0 in the points column. A franchise today would give Latrell Sprewell the ball for 40 min and he'd be the next big thing.... I don't know...maybe the kids are right...I'm just a hater and every player that ever played in the past is overrated and today is the golden age of skill and athleticism and Curry and Westbrook and LeBron are the 3 GOATS and Jordan is overrated because of his shoes and Hakeem and Shaq and Ewing, etc were no better than Demarcus Cousins or Hassan Whiteside or Andre Drummond....Magic Johnson and Larry Bird wouldn't even make it to the NBA because they are too slow and can't do 360 dunks and short shorts are lame. Moses Malone was fat and out of shape and bald. Dr. J couldn't even dribble a basketball at a high school level. Michael Jordan dominated a bunch of slow white guys and point guards. Everyone was weak. Only Karl Malone was strong and LeBron is 20 lbs bigger and stronger than him and can run faster and jump higher than Jordan.Watched a Grant Hill mix earlier...comment said you can see how far the NBA has come athletically because even the average D-league player is superior to Grant Hill and they can't even make it to the NBA. Every player on every roster is LeBron James and Russell Westbrook level athleticism. Why can't I see that?
