true, but the MVP was usually announced in early May...I don't think we ever officially knew who won it during the 1st round of the playoffs although you usually had an idea of who the award was going to plus Harden is not Hakeem so Idk why people keep on making up this scenario where Harden will do to Westbrook what Hakeem did to Robinson because he was robbed of an MVP award
Not impressed at all.... the media is over-hyping this as if they have never seen this before when it's been done before (Oscar Robertson). Hell, Jeremy Lin could average a triple double if the coach's entire game plan was to get a triple double, make sure he gets easy assists (via pick and roll), box out and let your PG get the rebound. The only concern would be if he got injured. I think one day 100 points total (in a game) will be broken and when it does this feat will be much difficult than to average a triple double for the season.
If that kind of ass-backwards psychology actually worked, bosses all over the world would snub their deserving employees of raises and parents would favor one child over the other. I mean, obviously employees would work harder and better because they were mad at their coworkers, right?? Children would excel in school, and this country would be chock full of doctors, engineers, and lawyers, right?? Some of you act like the only visceral reaction Harden could POSSIBLY have to getting snubbed again on such an amazing personal accomplishment is to go full-on Beast Mode. Not everybody reacts that way. In fact, there's only so much disappointment someone can take before completely shutting down.
It won't leak. Never has before. I'm sure they will hire an accounting firm to count the ballots,,,and while they did screw up giving Warren Beatty the wrong envelope, Oscars never leak. Also, Fortune 500 profits/losses don't leak before public announcements (albeit educated guesses do), either, thanks to accounting firms' ability to keep counting secret.
Dream would have taken the Admiral to school, regardless. It was his time. Hakeem bestrode the NBA like a colossus.
The Oscars fuked up because it was a live show. (although with seconds of delay I would guess) MVP should just be an announcement. I would not recommend reading from an envelope.
This isn't just MVP...but all the awards. Willing to bet it will be Live and with the stars there to accept their trophies....with full ability for Shaq to fuke up reading from an envelope. Also willing to bet Curry and his wife and daughter will be there to hand over the MVP to the new winner, like a Miss Universe pageant, after interviewing them on what it was like to win the award, and what the first time nominees must be thinking and going through right now...then pan to Harden, WB and Kawaii
didn't do anything last year for players awards. it was a simple news publish way late in the summer. no gimmick award show like the first year
That precedent is compelling. But voters might counter with, "we haven't seen anyone average a triple double in the modern era - THUS we will buck normal convention." That's the problem.
What Westbrook is doing is flat out amazing. No disagreement with you there. Do not imply though that Harden doesn't have a "chance to do something so special" His averages have only been twice before also. By Oscar Robertson twice, and Harden this year. Because of Harden's assist number is higher than Westbrook's. So yahhh Jordan never had these stats, nor Bird, nor Magic, Grant Hill, etc. etc. etc. http://www.basketball-reference.com...er_g&c3comp=gt&c3val=8&c6mult=1.0&order_by=ws Harden is also shooting a better fg%, 3pt%, and ft% than Westbrook. With what is a team that was considered worse than the Thunder before the season started. But now has a better record than the Thunder. Seems fairly special to me.
Yup, it's pretty clear that the goal of the OKC Thunder all year has been to pad Westbrick's stats first and foremost and that's why they are likely looking at the 7 seed and getting bounced from the playoffs in the first round. I guess some people are easier to impress with that kind of thing than others.
You know if Kobe were still around he'd punk Westbrook on one of those bullsh1t rebounds on a FT miss. Kobe would start at the top of the key, and run down the middle of the lane and jump over Westbrook for a put back slam that would forever be shown on NBA highlights for all existence, and would be used repeatedly in stories of why WB's triple double was bs and how Kobe exposed it. Here's to hoping Vince Carter has one more leap over a defender left in him tonight vs OKC. You can do it Vince...for you last glorious slam for all eternity.
They are 6th seed and Memphis is 3.5 games behind and 4 games left. The 5th seed Clippers are ahead 2.5....... They likely play us or Clips/Utah
You clearly do not know Vince on the court that well. His signature dunk came upon Team france and Weiss. He likes to do it on bigs.
yeah he does statpad his rebounds but I think part of OKC's plan is to let him initiate a fast break when he does get the rebound
