the addition of steve francis greatly increases our team's chemistry. he and yao have lots of hours logged on the court together, not to mention some play off experience together. they know where they are at all times on the court. i think with yao's great relationship with steve, yao will be a catalyst between steve and tmac, though those guys are already buddies. but yao can really make those three and inseparable trio. also houston is an extremely diverse community with a great hispanic/latin community. so i feel that scola isn't going to get all funky with us like how v-span got and also yi with the bucks. he is going to have great support from a hispanic/latin fanbase instantly. v-span just had that one (cool as hell) niko niko dude waving a greek flag. speaking more of chemistry. what about the adelman - bonzi chemistry? also what about the "it feels like home" chemistry that is going on with mike james and steve francis? both those guys are houstonians now playing for houston.
Agreed. I think the player's personal relationship with one another will help in their professional relationship as players and on the court as well. For example, Kobe and Shaq were two alpha males who couldn't really get along personally because as most people perceived it , both were arrogant and stubborn. In contrast, Yao and Tmac are both humble fellows , and I'm sure they are worthy models to emulate by other players. " Vanity is paradise lost". The meek and the humble will inherit the earth.
If ROX still keep JVG, i guaranteed there will be NO CHEMISTRY between a lot of players. JVG is the dictator of this team and also free agency movement. It is no coincidence that when he left, everyone wants to come back and join the team again...Bonzi, Francis. JVG stop playing from growing with Adelman helps player to grow.
The cold war has ended. The ideology of dictatorship and communism as well as control freak basketball philosophy ultimately will die a natural death.
This has been one of the better threads lately.... Here's my take: The issue is team chemistry. If we have it, we can take the next step and run deep into the 08 playoff; if we don't, our very talented team will come up short next year. I think amogst the team; front office and coaches aside, it is very simple. If our players come in with the right attitude, and treat each other with respect, then they will establish an understanding that will carry them through the season. The "right attitude" will also include: Staying away from All-You-Can Eat Buffets and any other sources of saturated fats Not missing team flights to attend SuperBowl parties Never uttering the words "I play for the name on the back of my jersey and not the front." Avoiding the urge to pocket a pair of sunglasses that DO NOT belong to you Avoiding watching p*rn while driving, then wrecking, then telling people about it
Well said. While many people criticize Tracy and Yao for being low-key, they are actually leading by example. They don't let the success get into their head. This team right now has the right elements. We have two leaders who lead by example in respecting and deferring to one another. We have players who are very passionate and play with their hearts on their sleeve in Luis Scola , Mike James, SF3, and Bonzi (before he was supersized). We have the ultimate glue guy in Shane Battier. And a coach who is very calm and collected and follows the liberal school of coaching. And we have youth in Brooks, Landry and Butler. On the tactical side, we have the right of amount of shooters, slashers, Low post and high post scorers, and all-around players that will make the team very difficult to defend and the offense very fluid and difficult to predict. We have Fire, Water, and other elements , and the right coach to mix them all together. Here is a quote from Albert Einstein: " All means prove but a blunt instrument if they have not behind them a living spirit; But if that spirit is powerfully alive within us then we will not lack the strength to find the means for reaching our goal and translating them into deeds.
