The Senate could schedule the impeachment trial on Trump's 100th birthday, correct?

How we get information has changed so much, and there are so many more entertainment options available that fewer households are sitting around the TV watching politics. I think they'd have an effect, just that it wouldn't be the same as 40+ years ago.

Dude, would you stop. We understand your position. Because you don't think the Senate will remove him, you believe Congress should run away with their tail between their legs.

    It's your opinion. Got it.

Other people have a different opinion ...Congress should finish their investigations to strengthen the case (including reviewing his financials) and move towards impeachment. If he isn't removed, so be it but at least the Dems don't look weak because they were scared of the Senate. Do what is right and be on the right side of history. Nobody is above the law. He clearly broke the law regardless if the Senate acknowledges it.

Why do you keep ignoring that Congress is continuing to do investigations and trying to get his tax returns.

How is that running away with their tail between their legs?

Why are you the arbiter of what looks weak by democrats?

All of this are discussions of opinions you have yours and I have mine, please don't misconstrue what I want, I certainly have not advocated for Congress to run away.

I didn't, which is why I said Congress "should finish their investigations"
You keep speaking in absolutes, which weakens your position.

    False

    False.

I'm the arbiter of my own opinions, which I've clearly indicated as such, that I feel the Dems will look weak if they don't take the moral high ground, regardless what the Senate does. Speaking in an absolute, it IS 100% certain that Trump won't be removed prior to 2021 IF the Dems don't impeach him first.

So why did you claim I want something that I have never advocated for?

Why did you claim that me not wanting impeachment means I want democrats to run away with their take between their legs?

And why do you continue to not acknowledge that the Democrats are continuing to do something and not just ignoring there responsibilities?

You stated the Dems should investigate but focus on the 2020 election instead since the Senate won't follow through. Am I misunderstanding your position? My opinion is not pursing impeachment because they anticipate the Senate won't act makes the Dems look weak.

I've repeatedly stated they should continue their investigations but I don't want them to stop there. I want them to pursue impeachment because there is already enough evidence to impeach. Whether the Senate removes him from office falls in the category of "we will cross that bridge when we come to it".

So why did you say not impeaching is running away with their tail tucked between their legs?

Why did you comment on a post that had nothing to do with you and claim I wanted to have democrats do nothing?

Because I think not impeaching him looks weak.

I've repeatedly responded consistently. Am I missing something? I've answered your questions and you are now responding with only questions. Please answer my last question.

"You stated the Dems should investigate but focus on the 2020 election instead since the Senate won't follow through. Am I misunderstanding your position?"

There is a difference between looking weak and making a definitive statement that democrats are running away and then claiming I am ok with that.

Yes that is my position on what I think should happen, so how is that interpreted that I am ok with democrats running away?

This. The Dems can walk and chew gum and they should. Don’t put all your 2020 eggs into impeachment when historically impeachment works with bipartisan support.

Sorry, reread what I posted and see your confusion. I didn't mean to suggest you said the Dems were weak. I was expressing my thoughts that if the Dems don't impeach then it's my take that this would make them look weak.

Conversely, you have not acknowledged the possibility that the Senate 100% won't remove Trump. That was also hyperbole. I can acknowledge your position is valid and you may be correct in the end. At this point in time, I believe the Dems must take the moral high ground even if they lose.

One reason why I like ClutchFans is because most of the people here are reasonable posters.

Agree. They can walk and chew gum. By pursuing impeachment, I don't think that paints them in a corner for 2020. Regardless, impeaching Trump shouldn't be about the 2020 elections. It should be about "no man is above the law". Period. It's not a political move, it's a moral move. Do the right thing.

IMO it's 100% that the Senate will not remove Trump on the evidence that we have now.

If something else comes out I could change my mind on everything.

Thank you. We can agree on that.

I suspect your 100% assertion may go down should his financials come to light. ;) We'll see. I believe his behavior suggests he's hiding something.

Doesn't matter. The fact that Trump is refusing to cooperate with oversight is an impeachable offense. That's enough. He should be impeached and the Senate needs to decide whether Trump is our King or whether the constitution matters any more.

Start the process and extend it pass the election. Indict him the day before the election. If he losses, which Senators would put their name in history for protecting a criminal? If he win, it doesn’t matter as much.
