I would not say vast majority, but a significant percentage do over stay their visa. Actually the ID verification will do more to stop illegal immigration than anything else. The drones are to "secure" the boarder from terrorists.
Ineligible for benefits? Uh, not exactly. If they show up to the emergency room to have a child or for whatever reason, they get treated, and guess who picks up the tab: hint: not them.
This. I am not taking a firm position on illegal immigration but the reality is that there IS a lot of costs associated with illegals that must be considered as well.
That's not a public benefit. That's hospitals making the decision to treat anyone in need of emergency care. For the record, illegal immigrants show up to hospitals less often than the general public. That's because usually only the healthiest and younger folks have the physical stamina to make the trip over here. Overall, they are a net positive to the economy and deficit.
are there any other laws that you think we should be ignoring since this is the law according to sweetie lou... ignoring the problem is not a solution
I'm not even going to respond to Sweet Lou - his posts are so absurd and lacking support that it's not worth my time to educate him.
The thing that is . . . .people no longer seem to separate ILLEGAL and LEGAL Immigration Then of course only CERTAIN ethnicities/nationalities are 'problems' Rocket River
More like you don't have the guts to tango with me after the spankings I have given you in the past. Owned!
There are costs but most studies show that illegal immigration is on net a wash or a large economic benefit. Anyway if we're talking about cost from things like ER care you also have to consider uninsured American citizens who can't pay for medical treatment yet still get ER care.

Supposedly 11 million people are here illegally and presumably most of the honest ones are working somewhere to support themselves and their families. BY DEFINITION, they are affecting the job market here for americans. And in the industries where they tend to congregate for work, (mostly blue collar) they are driving wages and opportunities down...especially for the less educated in america. This is Trump's big strength and if he drives it home during the general, he'll win.
On the ground, how is it that illegals can get jobs? If the argument against immigration is that they're taking away jobs, then why is no blame widely placed on the people employing them? Why is the media flooded with talk of illegal immigration but not criminal employers? If it's about jobs, then how come we don't hear a whisper of protest from the right or left even when the "muslim communist president" engineers a secretly negotiated trade deal that is guaranteed to send more, better jobs abroad? What about automation and robotics, should those things be restricted because they're going to take over as many if not more jobs?
I rather have immigrants come here, work here and spend here than off-shore the work to another country. Unfortunately, the anti immigration crowd consists of mostly blue collar workers who are blaming immigrants for their lower wages and lack of blue collar jobs, instead of the the politicians and business leaders that are preventing any policy to help them.
a strange psychological state ,its notable among relatively new immigrants, they tends to be more anti newer immigrants
This immigration talk is a cop out. Just like food stamps and the like was used in years past. Play to the emotions of a lower denominator by pitting them against the lowest denominator. Distract them with an artificial "crabs in a bucket" scenario so that in the end no one is voting for what's in their best interest.
I don't think that is the case at all. Most newer immigrants aren't anti-immigration at all. Maybe some of them are anti illegal immigration since they had to jump through hoops to get into the country legally. I think most people who are anti immigration are working class whites which make up the base of the Republican party and Cruz/Trump supporters.
"BY DEFINITION" - by what definiiton? Economists who have studied this issue have found mixed evidence at best - in fact some have even found that immigration increases jobs and wages for non-immigrants. Why should anybody believe you and not them?
