Mow lawns, but it pays less and I wanted the max amount of cash I could get for the summer. That sucks for you. I dunno man if you think millions coming here to work in low paying jobs does not depress the wages then thats fine. Really no way to resolve that.
Sorry I have no idea about tips. But i you believe restaurants and hotels are not a huge source of illegal worker employment then really nothing we can do to resolve that. Illegal immigration depresses the income of low income households. Deal with why you support it in your own way.
I'm not saying they're not. I know busboys in hotels and janitors in hotels are mostly illegal. And the reported numbers being paid at minimum wage doesn't even include the illegals. The legal workers in restaurants and hotels are paid minimum wage because they make tips. Going back to retail, you didn't expect a quarter of all workers in a fairly regulated industry get paid minumum wage right?
That seems quite low to me. 11 percent were paid under min wage when the wage was recently raised which is was pretty aggressively over a 2 year period. 07/24/2007 $5.85 07/24/2008 $6.55 07/24/2009 $7.25 I mean like has long been established, those are pretty easy jobs that are inside, no hard labor and include regular breaks and benefits for the most part. compared to an illegal workers job it is paradise.
