This is the only part of all that text that addresses the question. I'm asking you honestly, what do you think would happen if those banks weren't bailed out?
Again, you didn't answer my question. I'm asking you seriously so that I can get a better understanding of where you're coming from. Would you mind answering in order to further the discussion?

I support you 100% Brotherfish. Everything you have said is true. It is hard to win in a forum that is 90% left. We know the true makeup of America is center-right and whether they will admit it or not they know to. They are just enjoying thumping their chest because they have the political majority right now. When the Republicans win big time in November they won't like it but it will be proof that this left-wing big government we currently have has been rebuked.

Please answer my questions. I really want to debate with you, but you are acting like you don't know what you are talking about.

I know. It is fun to rip his "arguments" to shreds, but I won't engage him unless he does it honestly. I gave that up once t_j left.

I guess you are still in shock that I am not a redneck? As I keep telling you, I have assimilated into American culture.

But just to shut up the doubter, I am a Malayalee and my family is from Kerala--but was actually born in Assam. I speak Mayalaym, but don't read and write it.

As far as my favorite food, its translated to English as "Salt Mango Tree" and I have it for breakfast. Find your local South Indian Malayalee and ask him to translate it for you. Now give up the stereo-type labels you guys use for all conservatives and state your political viewpoints.

I haven't labeled or stereotyped you at all. I have simply made points to which you will not respond. That is the reason that people are beginning to label you. Engage me in honest debate and you will be treated with respect.

I promise that I will address your arguments when I get more free time, but I have lost a day's worth "real" work with this thread and now have to work some late hours to make it up--and I know this unforced accountability to my clients may be a hard concept for the "entitlement" group to understand. ;)

Nevertheless, I will be back after Easter to continue the discussion. Hopefully, I can do a better job of debating our differences to your satisfaction.

And even though I whole heartily disagree with most of your points, I again want to thank you taking your time to respond to me.

    Thanks for your support!

I hope to be part of the vocal "snowball of the majority" that has started picking up speed and is now rolling downhill on top of the extreme left Progressives like Nancy, Reid and Barney's--let's wash these "socialists" out of our HOUSE!

I voted for McCain, but to be honest, a part of me was happy that a minority became President. But damm, did he have to be sooooo far to the left!

Was America so messed up that it had to be fundamentally transformed?

    To be continued....

I am a conservative. I have voted Republican in virtually every election since I was 18.

That being said, your post is pure crap.

Obama is soooo far to the left? Really? He has continued a lot of the policies that were in place before he took office.

America was in bad shape when Obama took office. It remains in bad shape. Houses are being foreclosed at break neck pace. Jobs have not returned. The price of gas is on the way up. We are still spending billions on the war. It is hard to argue that America was not very sick when the election happened.

I do not agree with Obama on a good many things. The problem is that to get the ship righted will take some innovative solutions. Think critically about all of the policies and laws that come down the pipe rather than knee jerk react and bristle.

I sense that the vitriol regarding a lot of the policies has a lot less to do with actual substance and a lot more to do with the fact that a Democrat is currently steering the proverbial ship. That is a recipe for disaster.

Basically, IMHO, Obama is following the frog in the boiling water theory. If he brings about all his (and Nancy's and Reid's) Progressive wishes all at once, with very little crumbs to the right, he knows the "frog" will jump out of the water. His plan is to slowly insert his Progressive(socialist) agenda and kill the frog. Remember the famous "NEVER let a crises go to waste" slogan by Rahm Emanuel? That's basically what I am talking about. Also, Obama, was talking about transforming America well before the recession hit us.

(For those that don't know about the frog: If you put a frog in boiling water, it will jump out, but if you put it in water at room temp. and slowly heat up the water--it will stay there and eventually die.)

However, I do not believe he is a terrorist or has ill will towards America--like some on the extreme right believe.

I believe that Obama sincerely believes that he is doing wants best for the country with his Progressive agenda. But, a good part of his own party is against him. If fact, its the only reason he did not get the "single payer" system he really wanted.

But, I believe that he(and a small Progressive group of Democrats) are steering the country in the wrong direction by wanting the Government to grow too big and wanting to nationalize everything in our country.

So, I still do believe that he is very extreme left, but his own party is keeping him in check.

I hope to try and address the specific points you have brought up in more detail later.

To mitigate the polarization of this thread, I would like to steer this topic into a different direction:

    Let’s discuss the following questions:

    1. What is a Progressive?

    2. What is their basic agenda and vision for this nation?

    3. Are Progressives considered the "extreme" left of the Democratic Party?

    4. Have the Progressives “hijacked” the Democratic Party? What I mean by this is, are they in the positions of power within the Democratic Party?

    5. Now the big question: Is Obama a Progressive as we will try to define in the questions 1 though 3 question?

What I hope to accomplish is similar to basic algebra: If A=B and B=C, then A=C. This translates to: If Progressives = Extreme Left and Obama = Progressive, then Obama = Extreme Left.

I hope this can be less polarizing and more people can join the discussion.

If you truly believe this (and I don't think you really do) then you have not been paying attention. Obama is the most centrist president we've have in decades.
