Sorry Glad, but I am not going to take anything from these guys serioiulsy, see part of their mission statment.

    http://www.infidels.org/infidels/faq.html#who

"Why does Internet Infidels focus so much on Christianity?

"Christianity is the most popular and influential Western religion, and its adherents are the most active in publishing apologetic arguments against atheism and naturalism. Christian apologists engage us intellectually on a regular basis, directly challenging us to address their claims. Consequently, many of our authors (particularly former Christians) are better qualified to assess Christian claims than the claims of other religions, and their contributions often concern issues unique to Christianity.

Nevertheless, many of our papers address theism and supernaturalism in general, rather than Christianity in particular, and we have published some critiques of Judaism (and the Old Testament), Islam, and even Hinduism specifically, as well as particularly flourishing offshoots of Christianity like Mormonism. If you are interested in contributing an essay about any of these or other religions, please see our Submission Guidelines and Call for Papers pages."

If you can provide a source whose sole focus is not to debunk ALL RELIGIONS, I am willing to consider it.

Kindly post the source of your posted article so we can verify it's non-biased, as well.

Also, why do you use so much color in your posts? Does the red/blue make you feel more American? Do you have American flag T-shirts?

    Glad,

I will admit that this thread started off on the wrong foot. I tried to redirect it to a more respectfully direction. However, it seems that changing course is too late, due to the issues you brought up about the past history of the BBS with other posters,

Therefore, conceding that my opening thread was not conducive to a productive discussion. I apologize to any of long time posters for any unintended offence. I will read through all your points and try to better understand your side of the issues.

I am burned out for now and I am sure you are also.

See you guys back at the Rocket's Forum. I hope you guys don't hold any animosity against me for trying to express my viewpoints.

I learned a lot about you guys in the process and how to approach discussions in the future.

Thanks and Have a Great Weekend!

I had added it to the original thread. Before, you proceed with a response, read my post above.

I suggest you learn what the word "nationalize" means before you continue using it in public. You're making yourself look (willfully?) ignorant.

The extreme level of "under the table tactics" used literally hundreds of times by the last Republican congress?

As you said in your post. My point is that just saying it like you did is a lie in and of itself because you are bringing it up as a possibility. Obama has never even hinted that he wanted to nationalize oil or banks, in fact, he was far closer to bank nationalization when he took office than we are now since lots of the banks have repaid their TARP loans.

So, not only was your post inaccurate, it was virtually the polar opposite of what Obama has done in office.

You are off the deep end on this one. The HCR bill that just passed is so far from being a "nationalized" system that when you make statements like this, it clearly shows that you have a fundamental lack of understanding of policy issues.

Another thing that leads me to believe that you are not "center-right" as you claim is your propensity for using the inflammatory GOP slang rather than the actual name of the proposal.

BTW, in case you hadn't noticed, Cap and Trade was originally a Republican idea and was supported by McCain during the '08 election. It has been posted before in this thread, but you seem to have ignored it.

Please, name one "under the table tactic" that the Democrats have used. Point of emphasis: You are not allowed to use as an example any tactic used by the Republicans during Bush's terms.

You are welcome to claim that you represent the majority, but based on your writing, you should reevaluate where you sit on the political scale.

In that case, your article was debunked before it was posted as you didn't even provide a source.

BTW, can you come up with any response to the extremely well written, documented, and referenced piece that describes exactly why the Christian Nation is a myth?

No, of course not, you would rather just attack the source because you don't have a cogent argument to the contrary.

Brotherfish, when the Republicans have a super majority in congress and the presidency after the 2012 election, then they will understand. Unless Obama makes a large move to the center like Clinton after his party is rebuked this November he will be one term President. Based on the way he handled healthcare after recent elections showed that even Mass. was against what they did, I expect him to move even farther to the left after this November Republican landslide. If he does that he is finished in 2012 which can't get here fast enough. ;)

cml750, when the Republicans have a supermajority in Congress and the presidency with a to-be-named-in-a-few-years candidate after the 2012 election, you will understand. Unless that to-be-named-in-a-few-years candidate makes a large move to the center like Bush after his party was rebuked in 2008, he will be a one term President. Based on the way he will attempt to undo all the good Obama has done and after elections in 2013 will show that even Texas was against what he's will do, I expect he'll move even further to the right after the November 2014 Democratic landslide. If he does that, he is finished in 2016 which can't get here fast enough.

No. Sadly your views are not based on mainstream Christianity which advocates helping out your brother. You are following a type of fundamentalist Christianity, subservient to laissez faire economics, which is common mainlyrecently in the southern US.

Exactly what good has Obama done? He has spent 1+ Trllion more than the government takes in. Even though he was supposed to be focused on jobs and the economy all he wanted was to shove a health care plan that a majority of the people were against down our throats. At the rate he is spending money the country may well be bankrupt by 2012!!

That's why his approval numbers are falling so fast huh? Enjoy it while it last but Obama is the best thing to happen to the Republicans in a long time. America is getting a taste of what a true leftist can do and is rejecting it. Come on even Massachusetts was against this health care sham and he still crammed down our throats.
