You talk about deserving and merit. What has Reed done that merits more playing time? And I am not speaking about the last game. But historically what has he done?

What rotations are you specifically talking about? Need you to clearly illustrate what you would like done here and why. Then we can assess your basketball acumen ourselves.

 

They always need a scapegoat.

 

Easy example was the loss vs the Grizzlies. Our lineup to close to the game to score a basket featured both Tari Eason and Jaesean Tate. I get we're down some players but Ime could've done way better there.

Reed was bad to start the season but since his G League stint has improved immensely on the defensive side of the ball. He is simply a much more disruptive defender than Holiday. He's a better athlete as well and needs reps. Minutes given to Holiday are minutes wasted (unless Reed starts ball watching again). Funny because it was his PoA defense that was the knock on him coming into the league but it's been his team defense that was lacking. He's been doing well in that regard. Offensively I don't even have to explain hes just a superior offensive player. Lately he looks like he belongs.

I do wish Ime had a bit more humility at times in these losses. Maybe he does in the locker room and we don't see it. He hung Amen out to dry last game and I didn't really like that. His bizarre minutes allocations. Sky is not falling, this rough patch was always coming. We just didn't think it'd be vs the Nets lol.

 

His defense hasn’t been good overall. If you watched him since Summer league he loves to gamble on steals much like Cam. He doesn’t stay in front of players and gets blown by very easily. He has always had quick hands and gets him steals but this is misleading. This is why he was sent down to the g league along with poor shooting and offense. He can’t blow by opponents unlike Holiday who can get into the paint. This is why Reed opts for pullups. But his poor wide open shooting is perhaps the most visible weakness. Since he’s returned he hasn’t been consistent on either end and most games he has contributed nothing to winning getting stopped on his dribble drive being forced to rotate the ball. Not making plays. And hesitant on shooting or simply missing wide open shots for a guy who can’t get in the paint. By no means is he “better” than Holiday on either end.

 

Fred had no shot for most of this season + still can't get into the paint either, just saying. Reed is struggling because he's trying to learn brand new position at NBA level.

 

Fred does so many more things than Reed and Fred gets into the paint much more than Reed. Missing wide open shots or hesitating on them isn’t adjusting to a position.

 

Reed is definitely thinking too much and not playing loose, at least he was prior to Vipers stint.

 

We shall see. Thus far he has been a non factor besides the last game
