Exactly. Just wait 1 season and get him without selling the farm.

I hope it'll be better than Daniel Theis who didn't outperform anything.

Do you think Brown will actually be a free agent? Young all stars rarely ever hit free agency. Usually, they either sign an extension with their current team or get traded to a team that signs them to am extension. Celtics won't just wait to see what happens and be left holding the bag.

Also, I was very surprised to see the value comment. Feigen even specifically called out Cam Johnson saying we won't over pay for a RFA.

I think the above two comments are just another way of saying you don't want those players.

If you don't at least slightly overpay for Cam Johnson, the Nets will definitely match. If you don't trade for JB, someone else on his list will and he will sign an extension with them.

If all this stuff is to be believed, Stone is more of the same mind with some of us "be cautious and build slowly around the core" group than we thought.

I would love to see us make some moves and get better this offseason but I don't think we need to do anything drastic. One more top 5 draft pick, good coaching, and natural development of the young guys will show serious improvement all on its own. Just grab some veteran rentals at whatever positions it turns out we need, preserve our cap flexibility, and we can be in the running for the play-in toward the end of the season without giving up much. That's the most that can be asked on year 3 of our first top draft picks of the rebuild.

Morey often suggested that star players are some of the most undervalued guys due to the max caps on contracts and the immense impact single players can have on a team's success.

And at the same time, Stone has to deal with Tilman, the FO talking TF out of Middleton or Cam Johnson probably wouldn't be hard, but Harden has been a megastar in Houston for a decade.

a wise man once said you want to be the team that signs the young and fit superstar, not the one that overpays the old and fat superstar
