    Selig should just die already.

Oh the great rivalry of the Brewers and Cubs. It has been the thing of legend.

The reality is, we were in the NL central, we were the farthest West, and we were for sale. Once Selig did his realignment in the 90s, this was going to happen unless another team moved west, causing re-alignment to occur again. Rivalry talk is just spin.

One day maybe they will realize we don't give a flip. The Braves and Cardinals were rivals. Texas/Houston is never going to be Dodgers/Giants, NYY/Red Sox, & Cubs/Cardinals.

Dodgers/Padres, Yankees/Orioles, Red Sox/Orioles, Detroit/Cleveland, Milwaukee/Cubs, Milwaukee/White Sox, Philadelphia/NYM, Philadelphia/Pitt, Philadelphia/Washington, Pitt/Cincy are all similar distance or even closer than Houston/Arlington and have never developed into that kind of rivalry in baseball.

Instead of all of the horse**** that he's spewing, I actually would have respected him more if he just said, "The Astros were in a compromised position, and I did what I felt was best for the league." Don't sugarcoat it, and make up lies just to fit your agenda, you prick. Get bent, Bud.

Yeah, THESE quotes are the worst part of Selig's comments.

Oh, so the Brewers REALLY wanted to go to the NL? Great! The Astros REALLY wanted to stay in the NL!

I have a great idea. Let's put the Mets in the AL and the Rays in the NL. Also move the Angels to the NL, the Cubs to the AL, the Royals to the NL, and the Giants to the AL. If we're going to go along with this "geographic rival" BS, might as well go all out and re-align the whole damned league.

Yeah I'm still pissed about the AL move and all. Of course, I am extra upset because I can't see my team play here in San Diego, and I have to drive all the way up to freaking Anaheim and spend $40 in gas just to watch a damn game.

"Rivalries" in general are by and large non-existent and not a factor that anybody cares about in pro-sports. there's the yanks and red sox, and on a far lesser scale, the NFC East (with Dallas...oh, the irony), and I guess the dodgers and giants can be thrown in there in an even lower tier.

Other than those, no rivalry will ever be an everlasting one in pro sports. it takes 2 teams playing great and butting heads yearly to foster a rivalry. like the lakers and celtics, who, once they weren't at the top of the league, they ceased to be a rivalry.

selig is filth. nobody cares about rivalries, geographic or otherwise. he's an embarrassment to the position of commissioner. i'll be happy when he's gone, but the damage is already done, and irreversible.

I'm honestly going to care even less about the outcomes of our games vs. the rangers because of this. Going to be just the same as any other team. i hope most people share those sentiments. not feeding into selig's contrived BS. nobody gave a crap about the stupid "silver boot", and i hope nobody cares any more now just because that tyrant is telling them too.

Tampa is the closest AL city to me. 368 miles, compared to 101 to Atlanta.

Would really suck to be a fan of an NL team and living in TX. All those years where the majority of Texas was within 300 miles of AL or NL baseball.

Now the closest NL city to SA/Austin/Hou/Dallas is St. Louis.

The move to the AL never bothered me that much, not nearly as much as it did most fans . . .but damn Selig, are you as dumb as Jim Crane? You know Astros fans in general are pissed about it, why fan the flames . .what a dumba$$

We knew Bud Selig was a jerk. Now we've discovered he's also an ******* and an idiot.

Great, we have a geographic rivalry with the Dallas Rangers now!...We already played them 6 times a year, anyway.

Oh, right, there's other teams in the division. Seattle? Oakland? We're even further isolated from the rest of the AL West than we were any team in the NL Central.

Don't forget about the Toronto Blue Jays. 2-4 games in Canada every year. Awesome.
