    How dare you!

Countless star players, two coaches, over an 8 year span and you choose to blame it on the factor that hasn't changed?!??!

    Blasphemy!

If you look at Mike Bibby numbers while he was under Coach A, its pretty similar to Brooks

    Bibby's: http://www.nba.com/playerfile/mike_bibby/career_stats.html

    Brooks's: http://www.nba.com/playerfile/aaron_brooks/career_stats.html

I think they will always end up being super great borderline allstars that always deserves a spot in being the allstar team

But as far as assist numbers are concern, Brooks does not need to average 10 assist a game to win games, Bibby only average closed to 5 playing under Coach A the whole time and the Kings was a really good team back then, but i'm not really concern about that.

WE SHOULD BE TALKING ABOUT WINNING GAMES/CHAMPIONSHIPS, not categorizing whether freaking Brooks is elite or not, he's the right fit for us to be effective, yeah maybe its true every team has a player that is better than Brooks, or might be a better PG, but we still manage to win alot of games regardless and be able to stay above .500

Rep earned, you sir, clearly have a grasp of what the Rockets are trying to do, and what the PG's responsibilities are Adelman's offense.

"Little known fact: Brooks turns the ball over at a lower rate than D-Will, Nash, Rondo, Westbrook, Parker, or Davis. And yet they constantly get lauded here as being great decisionmakers while Brooks gets bashed."

I don't know it's me putting words in your mouth or you are playing denial game again.

Things for Brooks to work on:

    (1) Get to the free throw line.
    (2) More ball pressure, steals.
    (3) Cut down turnovers.

Context is everything. Brooks is constantly bashed because of his turnover rate. It is pointed to by posters, independent of any other factors (including within that thread), as being a reason why he is supposedly a bad point guard and a poor decisionmaker. Those are the posts I was referring to. If people use turnover rates as the sole basis of their bashing of Brooks, I feel comfortable responding in kind and illustrating that some of the players they apparently adore turn the ball over even more.

That does not mean I actually think turnover rates are the sole basis of PG decisionmaking. But when other people treat them like they are, it's nice to stuff their faulty logic back in their faces from time to time. Same as you were doing with AST/TO ratio.

If you can't understand that AST/TO is not an accurate way to judge point guards in Adelman's system, like I said, we're at an impasse. Take it up with DM.

    I raise you:

    (4) Better decision making.
    (5) Calmer temper when calls aren't coming and the enemy pg is applying harassing defense.

LOL. If AB is indeed a good decision maker, I'd throw out Ast/To ratio too.

But truth hurts. He's not that much a decision maker. So if you can't accept that and try to use other PG's OT numbers to make excuse, I'll have to use Ast/To ratio to give you a reality check. Even though it's not the best indication, it's still much better than your TOs argument.

Like I said in my first post in this thread, you guys might get tired of any unjustified criticism AB gets(many are justified), but at least be reasonable, not greatly overrating him at the same time. I'm getting tired of those" all star, franchise player, elite player" BS too. He is a good player, but his game has a lot of flaws, some of them are very serious.

It isn't his fault he's had to be the go to option all year, you can't assist yourself, but even still he has become a better playmaker as the year has gone on.

    December 4.6 APG 35.0 MPG
    January 4.8 APG 39.5 MPG
    February 5.5 APG 36.7 MPG
    March 5.9 APG 36.2 MPG
    April 6.0 APG 34.2 MPG

More assists in less minutes, and it's safe to assume he will get a few more next year passing to Yao instead of Hayes. I wouldn't call Aaron an elite PG, but he's a top 10 guy and not part of the problem. In terms of age and shooting ability, which we need with Yao, he's one of the best options in the league, unless we can get Paul or Williams.

I noticed that too. AB is improving over the season. If he can either improve his decision making or defense(I mean real improvement, not just little step) over the summer, I'll be glad to see him start over Lowry next year.

I don't think it's safe to assume AB can get more assists, because RA would run some offense through Yao instead of AB. But decision making and running the team is really more important than just assist numbers.

I disagree, jennings is a poor 2 point shooter and inconsistent scorer overall, tyreke evans struggles against good defenses for example playing against shane battier, and does not like to pass the ball, daren collison is a good passer and 2 point shooter, but he is not as quick or athletic as brooks; he is just a jump shooter from the freethrow line; not a good 3 point shooter at all

    What....not close to being Elite.

As far him reaching that level one day, I don't think he can personally. He'd have to take another leap in performance, and many guys just don't do that.

Also for PGs, vision and playmaking is not something you just learn over night or over one offseason. Most of the PGs that did get better at it, were already praised for it coming into the NBA.

He's already taken a big step, it's unlikely that he just explodes with more talent and suddenly be up there with Chris Paul or Deron Williams.

Agreed on your points about PG vision and playmaking. Of the two you mentioned, I think Stephon Curry is on his way to being better than both. Proof will be in the pudding as they say, if GS makes the playoffs next year or not.

What I don't understand is mostly I see "Aaron gets beat by X player" or "he isn't X player". I say and??? You can use this exact logic on every player in our roster.

Martin gets beat by the likes of Pierce. He isn't even close to Kobe or Joe Johnson level. He isn't as young as Evans. We could really use an upgrade at SG.

Scola gets beat by the likes of David West. He isn't as good as Bosh. He isn't young as Griffin. We could really use an upgrade at PF.

Yao gets beat by the likes of Mehmet Okur. He isn't as good as Howard (well, maybe he is). He isn't as young as Anthony Randolph. We could really use an upgrade at C.

    Ariza gets beat...you know...he isn't a good example....

Truth is if we replaced Aaron in this lineup with Chris Paul, we'd be crying about Ariza (more) and if we replaced Ariza with Igoudala then we'd be crying about Yao (more) and if we replaced Yao with Howard we'd be crying about Martin and if we replaced Martin with Kobe...we'd be crying about Igoudala...

LOL, or fans would be cerebrating multiple championships.

CP3,Martin,Igoudala,Howard on the same team? That will kill on both ends of the floor.

Yep and also, his defense is not going to get much better than what it is. He just isn't good instinctively and isn't built to play it.

I'm sure a lot of people will say "Yeah yeah yeah, PG defense isn't that important." when it really is as important as your center on defense.

I'm not 'disrespecting' Brooks. I am just pointing out the flaws in his game, because people overrate him and act like he is a untouchable franchise player, when he's not.

Thats what makes Kobe so deadly, even if we ignore his sharpshooting and clutchness. He's one of the top defenders in the game, and its not because he's overrated. Its because he IS a top defender.
