yes onvia has free shipping and they ship some items from carrolton, TX so it gets to us in Houston really fast. i've had orders received in 1.5 days. the burn-proof technology sounds really nice. i would definately get that.
I bought an HP 9110i about 3 months ago and it has worked great for me. Cost me $150 from Office Max, and I've since seen the same drive at www.techbargains.com for less than that. ------------------ Maybe all the rulers are wrong. Current Rocket's Salary & Contract Info
I'm also thinking about a CD-R or CD-RW. Are there any that do both? I want to back up info from by hard drive onto discs, but if I use only CD-RW there's a possibility of accidental deletion of my back up files. I assume a CD-R would eliminate that problem, but obviously limit my rewriting capabilities. Any suggestions? ------------------ My Rocket Page
R2K -- my experiences with the iOmega ZipCD(or those of people I know) have been really bad (really, really bad). However, just before Deja.com's rating system went down, they had some newer drives that looked like they were doing okay. It looks like they may have had some probs and there are good ones and bad ones . . . ------------------ "I am who I am, who I am, well who am I?" -- Dave Matthews Band "Dancing Nancies"
hey Dreamer...most all drives today do both. mine can't do rewriting but i don't need it. the CD-R blanks are much cheaper than CD-RW and you have to format the CD-RW ones before using it. also most audio cd players can't read CD-RW discs so it would be useless for music cds too. so basically figure out what your budget is and read reviews on the drive at www.cnet.com or www.epinions.com or www.zdnet.com before buying it. ------------------
With the free upgrade patch you don't even have to convert the files. EZ CD creator is the best burning program IMO. Also, what do you guys think of Iomega burners (the kind I have)? How do they compare to the rest of the market? ------------------ WooHoo! The season's here!....I'm still gonna need that keg of Pepto-Bismol.
A great site for user opinions on all types of things is http://www.epinions.com I found out alot of info about my Sony Spressa USB on that site. Lots of useful info. rH ------------------ *** THIS SPACE FOR LEASE ***
Astro....As mentioned by Vengeance, there have been problems in the past with Iomega drives. I personally have had no trouble at all with mine. Works great, and is in the lower range as far as prices go. Dreamer..I checked around and every drive does both CD-R and RW...the RX blanks don't cost more than about a buck or buck and a quarter these days...I find uses for both..but I have a spindle with 100 CD-Rs that cost me an average of 30 cent apiece. Outlaw....most newer drives that are out these days are CD-R and RW compatible...I just got a new Phillips protable discplayer that plays every disc I have (R,RW,and commercial) I love it!! Now I can listen to my compolation(sp?) discs in my car!! ps..sorry to bring this back up...have been outta town and away from a computer! pss...Merry Christmas to all of my CC.net brethren!!! ------------------ 404 File not found. Some of the things I use CD-R's/RW's for : Store graphic files. Archive old data. Archive important data like MS Money files that you may need in the future. Backup device for certain folders. Transport large files/directories between computers or to remote locations. I often do this when I visit Houston. ------------------ "I give up.
