If we can't get a good return for trading TMac, I'd much rather take a chance on keeping him. We can always move him later if needed, or hope that he can contribute on the court. I'm sure we could have made several moves including TMac by now, but Morey doesn't want to give him up for peanuts.
It can work either way. Morey said himself, that it's a long shot before McGrady comes back in time for the season, nevertheless training camp. And it is a fact that he (and Yao) are injury prone. Combine that he is coming off a pretty big surgery, there is a chance (like I stated earlier) that he'll never come back to form. I didn't say it like a fact. I said it like there is a chance. I'm not pessimistic. I'm optimistic that Morey will bring us key players in return of Tracy's contract.
This is board is a soap opera with this guy. Funny thing is, i bet you he doesen´t even know or care what most of us have to say. People writing essay-type posts on the guy thinking thay can move or keep Tracy here. Our jobs are being Houston Rockets fans. Support the people on our team, it´s really not a big deal.
I'm with the OP. I have so much hope that Tmac will come back to form. He's still young. Watching these videos reminds me of how much I love Tmac and love watching him play when he's healthy. Other than Dream he's my 2nd favorite rocket all time and IMO the 2nd best player this organization has ever had. And looking back, he really put up some huge numbers in the playoffs for us and played his heart out if you look back at it objectively. Anyone remember how amazing he was in that Dallas series in 05 when we were overmatched by the more talented Mavs and the Refs? Like Jon Berry said, Tmac was the best player in the NBA that year. That dunk on Bradley and that game winner in Dallas? Ah man those are some damn good memories for me. I love Tmac.
Most of you who still get hard-ons watching McGrady revert to the same old **** everytime--his Orlando days and the 04-05 season. As far as the upcoming 2009-2010 season is concerned, how does ANYTHING he has done in the past carry ANY relevance to how he will play next? Why should we care about any of that--the bygones? The ONLY reason you'd care is if you have some sort of sick infatuation with McGrady. Like the football dad in Death of a Salesman, you just can't let it go. The sooner you guys disengage yourselves from the disillusional thoughts of the old McGrady the better. Also, stop drooling over those Youtube highlights. Do you care about watching him just win the scoring title or actually help a team go deep in the playoffs? Because those two things, in Tracy's case, have had very different implications. Very good arguments can be made that the Rockets are better without the selfish-type player who needs the ball to play well. The fact that you pledge to follow McGrady even after his departure from the Rockets shows how much of a McGrady-only fan you are. Seriously, people on this board complain about the YOFs, but judging from the comments we get here and the account names there is no question the MOFs easily outnumber the YOFs.
Oops, my reply is directed to Brooksrox: "McGrady is the best player to have ever put on a Rockets shirt. He can have all the time he needs to rehab and get back to his best, because he will once again be the main man when he makes his comeback, and then everyone will eat their words."
I wish TMac well with his new team. I don't believe he should be back. He did all he could here and we should thank him but now it is time to start a season without TMac. Goodluck TMac.
Man this is one of the reasons i hate Clutchfans, too much hate on T-Mac. The guy played injured for half the season, he played hurt, but he PLAYED!....And on one leg he got a triple double and 1 assists away from another triple double. Not to mention the dunk he had on Tyrus Thomas. I believe he still has something to prove, since it is his last year on his contract. Stop The HATE on clutchfans. This is getting Ridiculous. tmacjordan123
I'm down with giving him another chance. Definitely. Some people here say Ron and T-Mac didn't fit well together on the floor. Well how many games did they actually play together when they both were healthy? Like two. If the rumors he will be 80% by training camp, I'd say let him play. Its a contract year, I think he's gonna train his ass off and shut up all the haters. I fully expect .500 ball the first 20 games or so of the season if the past is any indication. If its truly not working by the trading deadline, I'm sure we can get something for his super valuable expiring contract.
Very few people really "hate" McGrady. But there are more than fair share of people absolutely OBSESSED with the guy. Just take a look at account names. Do I really need to count out how many "McgradyIsGod", "TMac4Eva", "1TracyMac1" we've got registered here? Now how many "IHateMcGrady" names do you see? I love how the only defense you have for McGrady is ONE freaking play in ONE game during the regular season he made. Wow--nothing tells of desperation and sickening nostalgia better than that. Should we all go worship Kenyon Martin now because he made about 200 dunks just like McGrady's and on much more capable defenders than Tyrus Thomas? And to the "but he played injured this year" comment--I have only one thing to say and your whole point is moot. Yeah, he did play injured--HE BETTER HAVE, if nothing more than to show he earned a FRACTION OF THE 23+ MILLION DOLLARS WE PAID HIM THIS YEAR. If I were paid 23 million a year I'd hop on the court with one leg and a missing eye. Wouldn't you?
McGrady is damaged goods, but I have absolutely no hate for the man who provided the most exciting 35 seconds in NBA history.

This is what your judging him by, REALLY??? These comments? I swear to god people go out of their way to hate people. I dont have to twist anything. If you are taking away something negative from this quote, you obviously are stretching for anything to make the guy look bad.
You're not a true Rockets fan if that's the order of your priorities. The team winning > any individual success.
saw this coming.. yes.. these lone, isolated comments in passing is all I'm basing my reasonable doubt towards his character on.. or as you dismissively call it.. "hate".. as I knowingly remarked.. what with such replies, like yours, being so predictable.. it's not as if he's had a history of exhibiting such mental flip-flopping, disgustingly moody, extreme up and down unreliable behavior before.. but, oh wait.. we can't talk about his Orlando past.. and include it in all this to form a pattern or trend.. no matter how he obstinately persists in displaying the same behavior in the present.. as baffling as is your level of unfounded deflection to well founded criticism is... it's safe to assume that you, along with those that share this senseless view on Tracy, must undeniably share a deep kinship with Tracy's distorted conscience, lack of fortitude, and character.. it's the only thing that could explain it..
Not sure he meant it like that. I think he means that he doesn't want someone with no loyalty playing on this team.
