Every team can use somebody who thinks he's better than he really is (Vernon Maxwell), as long as you don't have more than one of these guys. It gives your team a swagger. Sometimes these guys end up being able to back it up, too (Sam Cassell). Mike James would have been good for us, though our roster is pretty great now even without him. It's nice to have some youth.
Ok, this is a myth....not EVERY team needs a punk.....sometimes the leaders of the team can inspire....as in year 2 when Maxwell's sorry butt was sent home in the playoffs. DD
not having a contract is no excuse for not staying in a modicum of shape. i don't understand the desire not to get hurt, in case someone shows some interest. if team A called me up and said "come on in, let's talk" i'd like to show up in shape. sure, they have film of me from last playoffs, but seeing me 30+# heavier might put a little doubt in their minds about my work ethic. hey, in the end, it's probably a moot point, as jvg will NOT play bonzi at the detriment of the team winning games. in fact, bonzi may have screwed himself by not being in shape. the team looks ok without him. plus, if he isn't on the court, he isn't driving up his contract value for next season. right?
