They are in the top 5, but they tend to overshadow some of the other tracks because of their history. Talladega and Dayona are fun because of the banks in their turns, which are steeper than most tracks, which allow the drivers to carry a lot more speed through the turns. Speeds on those tracks use to get up to over 200 MPH, which is they they put restrictor plates on the cars, for safety reasons. Texas Motor Speedway, Dover and Bristol are some great tracks also, as well as Indianapolis (Brickyard).
I don't watch NASCAR, but I watch him if I see him. He was an underatted center, really good passer, but always hurt.
People I know who love Nascar LOVE Nascar. As for myself, I just don't see the thrill in it. I think the gas could be used for more useful purposes.
I can only follow so many sports and maintain a social life and an appreciation of film and music. The main priority is being a good father and your story sounds like it began with that, so good on you.
This is Nascar, not black car! <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/EfBObq9Z4uo?fs=1&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/EfBObq9Z4uo?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
???.....Redneck and Nascar aren't really in the same group anymore....it's more of rich little bastards who get what they want...(Kyle Bush). Codell....I've been to Atlanta Motor Speedway and North Carolina for the Allstar race under the lights....and It may be boring to sit through an entire race while watching on the tv....but being in the stands is a whole different experience...well atleast at them 2 tracks,.....they get up some speed. and when the cars go roaring by....it's something everyone should have a chance to feel. my dad has watched nascar since he was little is the only reason I kinda like it.....but other than Daytona and Talladega (because of the restricter plates and the cars not being able to really seperate...resulting in awesome 10 car pile-ups)...I won't watch on the TV....I'll fall asleep.
I got into NASCAR the season Dale Earnhardt died. Caught that Daytona race and just kept watching and rooting for Dale Jr to win. And what I found, like you, is that there's much more to NASCAR than just taking left turns. There's plenty of drama and a whole bunch of mini-battles within the race. But I have since kind of found myself losing interest as Dale Jr gradually started sucking more and more. I'd love to catch a race in person...one of these days.
That is what I hear; that in person, it is an unbelievable experience and the weekend, overall, is a huge party. Something you can't appreciate on TV. Can't wait to go to TMS in November.
eeehh, in the end, it is still guys going left around and around and around and around and around... Give me high-tech machines racing 1/4 mile at a time anyday. Lot shorter and less boring.
Worry not mr codell, for the NBA season is starting soon and all of this will just seem like a bad dream. Btw they recently did a few rule changes to F1 and limited the engine capacity or something, so everyone has the same max limit for their engine power. I'm not a car guy by any means so I don't know if that's the correct terminology, but you get my point. Basically it takes more skill now than ever to win it all. Hence why Ferarri hasn't won it in a few seasons.
