I'm okay with Amen coming off the bench as long as JG is playing well

    Andre Igoudala, Scottie Pippen Type

Amen Thompson similar to those players
Ball Handler, Playmaker, Great Passer, Rebounder, Alley oop Dunker, Decent Shooter, still improving his shooting.

Amen Thompson hitch in his shooting is gone from his Rookie Year compared to Now there is more flow in his shooting.

When Scottie Pippen came to the Bulls everything opened up more for Michael Jordan in scoring and attacking the basket much more, Won even more games. The more Great Players the Better the Team.

Career wise? Without looking it up I will assume Jalen's is lower. Everyone knows Sengun's scoring efficiency is down this year. An average person doesn't look at a small sample size of one stat for one year to make a determination of a player. I would imagine the average person look at career history trends, eye test, player mentality and how they react in certain situations, how they adapt, basketball iq, how much resources opposing teams have to dedicate to guarding a player, and much more. So since I would imagine you aren't using current player efficiency as an example for your argument would you please explain a little better since I don't grasp what you are saying.

Magic was a very good FT shooter from the jump and when started talking midrange shots he was a very good midrange shooter as well... Amen is a poor FT shooter, a poor midrange shooter, and a bad 3pt shooter... He rarely gets to the rim in the halfcourt at will or anything like that... After shooting this is the next aspect he's least effective at in his scoring... In transition he's extremely hard to stop... And of course he's fantastic as a cutter to rim, but he routinely gets stopped or has to pick up his dribble in the halfcourt when pressured off the dribble. There's no improvement in his shooting that's significant... It's negligible.. still bad and an extremely small sample size to make any notable conclusions... We're talking about a relatively miniscule difference in makes and attempts.

Kidd in comparison to Amen was a much better shooter even at this point in his career... That's how bad we're talking about with Amen.
Rose was a good FT shooter and a very good midrange shooter ... He was a sharpshooter in comparison to Amen.
Cp3 was also a sharpshooter compared to Amen... a good FT shooter and a very good midrange shooter early on... Didn't take long for him to be an elite midrange shooter and good 3pt shooter... His proficiency in the midrange is something he was known for coming out of college... Idk why you're only looking at just 3pt shooting... There's fundamental issues with his shot and he'll likely never be an average shooter.

No one said "shot blocking" is the only skill that defines a post defender... When I say "rim protection" I'm talking about shot blocking AND what opponents shoot vs said players in the paint/at the rim.... Idk what stat you're referring to on "post defense", but it's probably a stat similar to the one where Harden often excelled and was ranked near the top of the league.... That's not the same as rim protection/paint defense.... All the top guys their in the league are centers or mobile bigs... Chet, Wemby, AD, JJJ, etc.

I've said Iggy 2.0.... The cap is closer to Iggy 2.0 than it is to any superstars you've mentioned... And that's largely down to his offensive limitations... I'll be here every season and we'll see which analysis is more accurate.

I don't think he can develop his handles to that degree... from mediocre to a level where he's a primary ball handler... He's 22 years old and players virtually never make that notable an improvement in their handle once they're in the NBA much less his age... I can't think of one in NBA history tbh.

He's likely to be a connector and secondary or tertiary playmaker for his career... And that's fine as he's very good in that regard, but he's clearly not a main initiator.

I'm not asking for career wise. I'm asking for this season because we are discussing this season.

Energy is a zero sum game right? Its finite. Why is it that anyone on this team that are primary self creators(FVV, Sengun and Jalen) all have a ts% of 50%' 54%, 54% respectively?

If Green improved tremendously in half the game of basketball and part of if not the majority of that improvement involves increased energy expenditure,

Wouldn't maintaining a 20 ppg average on career scoring efficiency but on a entirely different plane of defensive level mean he could have improved as a scorer already?

Do you think 20 ppg on 54% ts is the same on a 20 win team vs a team on pace to win like 56 games?

Idk why you focused on what position he was "slotted' at... Nothing I stated was about that...
I'm speaking on him as a potential primary ball handler/playmaker and how he's used offensively on the court... It's irrelevant whether he's listed at guard or forward... The reason he isn't primarily used as a lead guard on offense is because of his limitations as a ball handler... He's been used in a way that gets the best out of his skills as a finisher/cutter/connector.

I've said multiple times here that I think he's Iggy 2.0... or potentially an Iggy/Marion hybrid.... the playmaking aspect didn't have anything to do with Marion that's why I literally said barring assists.

I never said he's NEVER created his own shot in the halfcourt or is incapable of ever scoring in isolation... I've said he's not proficient at it... And there's no evidence or precedent for a player becoming a superstar who largely struggles to do so(which he does) with his offensive limitations.

Yeah this playmaking level is solid and I would say if he improves it could be Iggy level.

There are no objective numbers that say differently... Their handles had nothing to do with them being stars or superstars.... Assist numbers, assist to turnover ratio, usage, etc... none of those measure "handle effectiveness" or have anything to do with your "handle"... The most relevant stat here is "turnover percentage" although that still doesn't measure how good someone's handle is... It just gives a good indication how much they turn it over relative to their usage on a team.... The improvement that made those guys stars wasn't their handles... Their improvements in handle was marginal at best... What made those guys stars had everything to do with their improved proficiency as scorers/shot creators which largely rests on their shooting.... Something Amen hasn't shown and there's no evidence he'll be able to shoot average much less anywhere close to as good as them.

Yeah this is extremely insignificant at that sample size.

Again. When evaluating players you look at their entire progression, what got them there, their mentality, do they need confidence boosts, ect.

First of all his career TS is still 243rd in the entire league which isn't exactly something I would be bragging about. On an entirely different plane defensively still makes him at the bottom of the defenders on his own team. He has also gotten the most coddling I have ever seen in the NBA to get better. Is this year's Jalen better than Rookie Jalen? Absolutely. Is current Jalen a 37 million dollar player or is on a trajectory to be, absolutely not.

You can only account for his 25% good games though

    What is Paolo Bancharo's career ts% rank. Who's bragging about Green's ts%.

You hear of the concept of context?

Please try to form a argument with nuance that proves you aren't some Tencent bot.

Its possible I haven't mentioned Paolo's name on this forum since he has been in the league. Not sure why I care about his TS but if its low as Jalens then thats a problem for them.

Yeah I'm sure that the Orlando Magic franchise believes they have a problem with Paolo Bancharo

Its funny that in your mind there is a comparison there. Two different players. Paolo is the guy defenses key in on where as Sengun is the player they key in on Rockets. They also pack the paint knowing nobody can shoot. What if PJ Tucker has a better TS than all those guys, is he a better offensive player?

Jalen Green has the lowest percentage of his fgs made assisted on this team. Even less than FVV, the lead ball handler.

Teams care about Sengun and throw doubles when he's posting. When he's out in the perimeter setting screens or handing off in DHOs, if Green is the ball handler he is the one who gets doubled while leaving Sengun open by himself

Green also has his primary defender glued to him off ball before the offensive paly is initiated. Look at in bound plays and DHO hand off attempts and see which perimeter player the defense tries to deny a pass to the most.

I'm okay with Amen, Sengun, and Jalen all being stars and winning as a team.
Another W on third-ranked Memphis, a fantastic game.

Amen made game-changing plays in every stat possible as a starter to close out the win, including clutch free throws.

These are star numbers at 22 years old, he'll just get better with time.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again — this logic is no different than “Bruno over Sengun.” It actually may be dumber.

Amen is a budding star who is unlocking our other budding star.
