I'm frustrated because, despite the 4th quarter of Miami's game and the game versus Milwaukee, he just doesn't seem like he wants to be apart of the game. I believe it's all mental, all in his head, he's not assertive enough, he should call on himself to take the shots because that's what we pay him for. He's passing a lot, but not really to make plays, I want to take over the game like all stars should do. I'm frustrated, but I am keeping quiet about it, McGrady is my favorite player, though, and I want him to be the MVP...
We're paying him to be a playmaker which is what he's doing. You're paying him to be Steve Nash on some nights, Tmac on other nights and Bruce Bowen on others.
Tmac will be fine and eventually come out of his shooting slump... A great player does not loose his skills overnight, unless there is some physical limitation from injuries. Tmac is healthy, so I don't think his slump is due to that, it's probably more of a mental issue . Anyhow he's can still be a decoy and contribute with his Bball IQ and decission making. When he start shooting well from the outside, it will open up his inside game. I hope to see that soon , as we will need that for sure at playoff time to make a legitimate run in the playoff
For one, I am not too frustrated about TMAC's loss of shooting touch, as I think sooner or later, he will regain his shooting touch. I am also glad about his taking on a play-maker role by passing/assisting and helping the team to win. But I just wanted to point out that in every game, while he needs to pick up his form and shape as well as to regain his shooting touch, it surely did not require him to continue jacking up 15 ~ 20 wild jumpers (and making the low 30% of them) and lost all those possessions BEFORE he started to change passing and assisting his team mates. What we need from him is more penetration into the lane, draw fouls, hit the free throws, a few more clutch shots out from the arc here and there and more passing/assisting to other players (like Yao Ming, Battier, Head or whoever) that can shoot much much better. Just imagine if he can be more selective in his shots, distribute say 1/3 of his shot attempts to those more reliable/productive shooters on the team, we are talking about at least > 10 points in offense. He himself can easily be getting his double-double day-in day-out.
I know alot of us believe he'll turn it around, but is that REALLY why you're ok with his slump? Not for me... if we were losing right now, I'd be frustrated with his short jumpers and inability to finish. Only reason I'm not agitated is because we're winning these games. Against the Heat, there was a play where he broke free and caught the pass around 4 feet from the basket... so he turns around and shoots what looks to be a tough short-range jumper... in my head I was thinking "TMAC YOU GOTTA DUNK THAT!!!!" But 15 minutes later I didn't care because we had a nice cushion and blew them out... He even had some open jumpers that missed, he travelled on one possession because he wanted to lift up and shoot but ended up just shuffling his feet.... there was a frustration foul where he tried to steal a pass and got overly aggressive because he missed an easy shot just one play earlier... All of this would've upset me irrespective of the fact that I think he'll be playing much better, but we WON so i don't care i'm not sure why people are believing this whole "distributor" role; I don't think this is rehearsed... the reason he was an effective in the 4th was because his aggressive attack offense was letting him down so he switched his personal gameplan ... you can see it every time they go back to the bench, a bunch of the guys are consoling him and keeping him positive ... he's obviously not quite back to his offensive potential and the rest of the guys are just keeping it positive until he gets back to form ... then all this "tmac is finding everyone, he doesn't need to pick up the load" quotes will vanish... until then, let's keep winning and give everyone a chance to get back into form and into the rotation... that includes Mac, Wells, Sura, and now Hayes
Tracy has become a better allround player this season. he has tried to become an allround threat. once he gets he's shot going, were looking at an automatic triple double threat...
