Luckily these last 2 ugly games weren't at TC, because they would hear nothing but boos from me and the rest of the crowd from here on out. There is no cohesiveness, and they don't even have the energy of a team. They all seem ready to go home, so good for them. I'll be disappointed until morey can make changes in coaching and in the players.
I had high hopes for them in this series. I knew it would be tough when our weakest positions (PG and PF) are their strongest. They have two guys at those positions that are out to prove something this time around. Clips have been bounced early the past few years and this year they look more determined than ever. Our boys are still new to this and it shows. It also doesn't help we are still missing pieces. We HAVE to get a better PG and PF this summer. We just need more talent is the bottom line. Guys that can make plays for themselves and others. Clips put a man on Harden and Jordan sits outside the lane waiting on him to drive. He can't do anyhing with that. Jones and Smith have to make them pay for that but they don't. So we can't do anything in half court. I'm a realist and I knew this would be a tough matchup for us. I just hope they win Tue to save face. Play some 'dang' defense!!!
On the bright side, being a Houston sports fan in general has softened the pain from games/series' like this. I still feel the disappointment but not as much as I used to. I had already accepted that this series was over by the end of the first half yesterday. That was easily equivalent to the 40 pt blowout by Dallas in '05, even if the score didn't reflect it early. Hardest game I've ever had to watch by far - the cowardice of hacking Jordan just made me shudder. I get doing it a few times, but McHale failed to realize that it was zapping his team of any confidence on either end of the floor. He basically told the entire team, "hey, we can't stop these guys so we're going to hack Jordan for the entire half to try to stay in it." Just disgusting. Part of me doesn't blame the team for their performance. This was on the head coach. And i've been supportive of McHale up until now. But last night was just ****ing cowardly.
Look on the bright side. Everyone can cite this series to justify whatever pet peeve they have about the team. Moreyball, McFail, Frauden or whatever your gripe is -- you have to feel totally vindicated right now.
Before the playoffs started, I felt the Rockets would have a hard time beating the Clippers, Warriors or Spurs. After the 7 game series of Clippers/Spurs, I thought the Clips would be physically tired, mentally tired, and with CP3 injured, this would give the Rockets that extra advantage. But alas it seems the Spurs series just made the Clips TOUGHER, mentally tougher and that toughness is overwhelming the Rockets. To see the Rockets losing this series, really is no surprise. But what IS a surprise is the DOMINATION and the BLOWOUTS...the fashion that the Clippers are winning. I wanted to see more FIGHT from the Rockets. No shame in being outmanned. But being beat down this way? The #2 seed in the West? The team with teh 3rd best record in the NBA? I know the Rockets are missing DMO and Bev, but that is no excuse for the blowouts As a Rockets fan, pretty much this.
