Enjoy the low cost of living, friendly people, clean air, and make sure to visit Bricktown while you're there. Also make sure to take a walk around campus on a beautiful sunny day. Nothing is more relaxing. Sigh, I really miss being there. Anyway, take it from me, you'll have a great time there. Congats. and Boomer Sooner!
My cousin moved to Oklahoma "just to go to flight school". He ended up married to a Cherokee woman, and it took him 10 years to get back home. Apparently the father-in-law threatened all sorts of bodily harm if he lost the ability to see his grandkids every day.
Glad to know I'm not the only one just mindlessly drifting in the world while trying to decide what I want to do in life.
Thanks for all the well-wishes, y'all. And for the sneers, as well. Seriously, my first university was so small (NCAA Div. III) that I really have no conception of what is to be a nutty college sports fan. I probably still won't care that much, especially since I won't be in Norman or OKC, but I'll still be a Sooner, so we'll see what happens....
Again, I'm old, I've been to college once, I don't really care about college sports, and I'm nowhere near Norman. I'm not like, you know, a real Sooner. Maybe. Maybe no.
Congrats, I heard that nurses these days make up to six figures since they are in high demand. I myself have been considering a switch into the medical field, as it is a whole lot more stable than my current career in finance.
My wife got into nursing school a little later than you (North Harris County Community). Obviously it's never too late. She's been a nurse for a little over a year and loving it. It's a good field and I'm happy to know we'll have her income pretty much indefinitely. I think you'll enjoy it. Lots of flexibility on what you do in the future. If you don't want to keep doing floor work you can get your masters and go make 6 figures.
Lawton, OK at Cameron Univ. which is an OU satellite school for OU's RN program. My degree will say OU. Its in the SW part of the state.
Good for you. Sounds like a smart move with all those employability factors. Mrs. Giddyup works in healthcare. Good pay. Good benefits. Lots of options. Somebody beat me to the Gaylord Focker reference...
OOOOOOOklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma!
congrats on finding a career path that you feel will help you live a fulfilled life. you probably know how difficult it is finding something that will make you happy considering your age.
There are only 2 areas in OK I would consider living, Tulsa metro and OKC metro (I'm including Norman here). The rest of the state is probably a ****hole.
Congrats Lynus. It sounds like you've found what you want to do in your life and I envy you for that. As far as Oklahoma goes, I think it's great. I know it gets a bad rap on this site and in Texas in general, but it's really a nice place to live. The low cost of living and a relatively high amount of things to do (we're not talking about Idaho here), I think it's pretty hard to beat. I'm an OU student as well, but I'm in Norman. You should definitely come to some OU football games. It's an experience like no other, especially in the student section, just get there 2 hours early. I can't really speak about Lawton. I know the Fort Sill part is a bit nicer than the rest of it. Good luck to you and Boomer Sooner!!
