Get a job, any job. It will force you to get out of the house and into a routine. You'll get a sense of accomplishment and money wouldn't hurt either. Once you get moving, you can figure out what to do next. Also, there's nothing wrong with not knowing what to do with your life.
I think I know how you feel. I too dropped out of community college about ten years ago. School just wasn't for me at the time. Eventually I went to university and did a lot better there. Now I'm a consumer lawyer and totally love it.
there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with community college. i'm a UH grad so i'm not saying that just b/c i went to one.
I learned at least 75% of what I know about computers and networking from a CC and Ill guarantee you that I am just as good at it as people who got theirs from a 4 yr college. cannonball nailed the reasons why....most of the stuff you would be taking in your first two years at a 4 yr college is the EXACT same as you would take at a CC. Just make sure you go to an accredited one...not one of these NIT or Phoenix University ones.(ever notice that in the ads it says in small print that they cant guarantee your credits will transfer) It may have been true in the beginning that CCs werent as good as the big colleges, but that is no longer true...and on top of that, its MUCH cheaper. Dont believe the hype, there aint nothing wrong with going to a CC.
I feel your pain dude. I've never been the type who knew what he wanted to do from an early age (it seems like everyone around me was a go-getter who took charge and knew what they wanted). I went to UH for 2 years and still didn't know what I wanted to do (seemed like I was wasting time), then took up drafting and design course at HCC, loved it and and went on from there. You just have to try different things until you find your nitche. But you have to try. I am still the type who kind of just goes with the flow of things and alot of times feel empty/unfulfilled at the end of the day b/c feel like I am not living up to my true potential as a being. The main reason I keep motivated is the support and love of & from my family and faith/knowledge that no matter what happens God is always there in my heart. Don't define success by what others think is success, in most cases making lots of $ and material pleasures...$ and material happiness comes and goes, true spiritual happiness is everlasting. Btw, I went to Community College, then got a B.S. from UH and still live at home, saving up $$$ and paying off debts. You're not the only one! but you have to work hard, make an effort and ASK for HELP when needed.
There is a disconnect with your handle, at the moment. But seriously, Rivaldo's advice is what I would say -- do not quit trying new things. Just don't quit.
Maybe he does. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brainwashing Brainwashing (also known as thought reform or as re-education) consists of any effort aimed at instilling certain attitudes and beliefs in a person, sometimes beliefs in conflict with the person's prior beliefs and knowledge.

You sound like me, as of a year ago or so. I felt lost, seemedl like I was stuck in a black hole. Nothign was going the way I wanted it to, I felt pathetic...and as an embarrasement to my family. I took a semester off and worked for an ems service to get things into perspective. I'm back in school now, and working on my new major. IT.
go back to school..get a degree..get a job..and stop feeling sorry for yourself..you need to get up and do something! best of luck
hey! that's me right now. i took 4 semesters at UH never decided on a major and got a 1.96 gpa. going to san-jac right now to raise my gpa so i can transfer to UT-dallas... art&tech. major. i agree almost all of HS grads should take a year off and do anything they want.
Great. Yet another depressing thread. But don't worry too much 'cause I feel much of the same way. I feel as if my life is worthless right now. I'm done with school but can't find a full time job yet. So I have alot of free time. I still live with parents. I have a gambling problem I broke up with my girlfriend cause I thought I was too good for her. I haven't gotten laid in a long time... So, I spend most of my free time on this website. I suggest you do the same to pass time.
Keep you head up man, coming out of high school I didnt get accepted into the school of my choice. I ended up living at home with my parents, working and going to a community college. There were times when I got frustrated because thats not where I wanted to be but on the whole, I learned a lot about myself while I was there. Four years later I got my Associates Degree and finally transferred to Stephen F. Austin and I just graduated in August. Sometimes things dont always work out they way you planned but you have to persevere and keep going. Life is funny like that. Looking back though I probably wouldnt have changed too much though, I met and learned a lot of things from a lot of people. I'm still out looking for a job too but that will come.
Have you done it for yourself? How are you so sure that my suggestion is not going to work? I have seen it working numerous times including my situation.
Do you have any hobbies or interests? Maybe you can choose a line of work doing something like that. For example if you like to play on the computer, maybe you can be a computer tech. Or if you like fitness, you can work at a gym, etc.. Tony Robbins talks about how people have pain/pleasure thresholds. Someone will keep doing or remain in the same situation until it hurts them enough to change. I don't know, but I get the sense that you don't really feel that having no job, degree or friends is all that bad. I'm not saying its the right thing or wrong thing to feel that way, but I was like this at one point in my life, so I know somewhat what you are going through.
Reason why I dropped out of CC is because there are no more course that I have interest in, I feel like that I'm wasting a lot of my time during the three years in a lot of the course because of many reasons, but at the same time, I also learned a lot. I drop out because I feel like I could learn more from myself by reading, the internet, and message boards, and I find that true too. I'm very young, and I feel that my knowledge is better than a lot of people, however, I just can't seem to put it work for me. Thanks for all your advice, but I'm still lost...
Focus on the accomplishments, and wealth will follow. It may not be the kind of financial wealth you see on TV and the movies, but it also might be more rewarding.
