When Rockets face the Western contenders, they need Chuck. TD, dirk, Gasol, Amare, Boozer, they are franchise player or at least semi-franchise player. Can Landry keep straight up with them this year? If so, Landry will be Rockets next Moses Malone.
As Yao Ming told Chinese reporters, it was Chuck that standed out to speak his teammates to take care of their business in a team meeting after home loss to Philly. It's the turn point of the season. Ironically, chuck lost his minutes after that. But Chuck will be used in playoff when it really matters.
True, but they played a combined 60 minutes between them because they weren't only playing the 4 position. It's still a very impressive performance though. That's why I never could understand trade talk about us possibly acquiring a power forward.
According to 82games, our PFs this season have been statistically more productive than opposing PFs (+1.0 PER): http://www.82games.com/0708/0708HOU5.HTM Code: Tm PER OPP_PER Diff 1 DAL 24.2 14.6 +9.6 2 BOS 19.3 13 +6.3 3 UTA 21.3 15.7 +5.6 4 NOH 20 15.1 +4.9 5 WAS 19.6 16.3 +3.3 6 PHO 18.3 15 +3.3 7 CHI 18.4 15.1 +3.3 8 ATL 20.2 18.2 +2.0 9 IND 18.1 16.4 +1.7 10 CLE 18.2 17 +1.2 11 HOU 15.5 14.5 +1.0 12 DET 17.4 16.6 +0.8 13 POR 19.1 18.5 +0.6 14 CHA 17.7 18.3 -0.6 15 GSW 16.6 17.3 -0.7 16 ORL 15.7 16.6 -0.9 17 SEA 16.3 17.4 -1.1 18 DEN 15.3 16.7 -1.4 19 MIN 17 18.5 -1.5 20 MEM 17.7 19.5 -1.8 21 SAC 14.3 16.6 -2.3 22 SAS 14 16.6 -2.6 23 LAL 15.2 18 -2.8 24 TOR 14.8 17.6 -2.8 25 LAC 14.2 17.5 -3.3 26 NJN 14.1 17.7 -3.6 27 MIA 14.4 18.5 -4.1 28 PHI 12.8 17.1 -4.3 29 NYK 14.4 18.9 -4.5 30 MIL 14.9 19.6 -4.7 Of course, a lot of credit for that should go to our excellent team defense. Chuck didn't do too much in terms of stats before, though we've always had a positive differential at the PF position. With Scola/Landry getting the lion share of the minutes at PF now, I suspect that the positive differential has increased.
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=134539 Thank god we did not cut landry loose when negotiations were at an impasse. In hindsight, funny how things turn out. The kid is going to get a significant pay raise in the near future.
He is going to get a much bigger contract next year, and we are going to have to use some of our MLE to sign him...I think. DD
