in theory you have a good point but the rockets learned nothing more in this loss then they would had they pulled it out by one. they're old enough to understand that they can't expect to beat teams with crap play. they don't need to lose embarrasingly to the freaking hornets to figure that out.
Well since getting home court in the playoffs looks out of reach, I want us to drop in the standings until we match up with Seattle I'd much rather play them than Dallas, who has basically 8 guys averaging 10ppg or better
I was rooting for Hornets to beat the Rockets. Its best to avoid Dallas in the first round. Some might say that we should'nt fear anyone. True, but being tactful is not stupidity. We dont match up well against Dallas, while we pose serious problems to Seattle. Hopefully JVG uses his head, not just his heart, and places Rockets to face the Sonics in the first round.
From this game it is obvious we don't have the personel to cover the 4 & 5 down the stretch with both JHo and Yao out.
You guys wanting to lose to match up with Seattle... be careful what you wish for. We're flirting dangerously with the 7th and 8th spots, and a potential matchup with the Spurs. That would be worse than Dallas. This loss sucks, I don't care how you spin it. We played like crap against one of the worst teams in the league. We need to go into the playoffs with some momentum and we've still got 4 games left vs. the Sonics and Suns. This one should have been a W even w/o Yao.
I like the lost, because it keeps us in 6th, and if we stayed 6th, we'll play the Sonics, and as of right now Rashard Lewis is out indefinitely. Even if he were to come back anytime soon, he wouldnt be at 100 percent.
If the Rockets haven't learned that lesson before today, they're a bunch of freaking idiots. The Rockets don't exactly have a lot of respect for the game. They take a lot of nights off.
that's an excellent point. However, T-Mac gaurded Odom for that short spurt. Now, I did not see last nights game, so bare with me on this. But, I'm not really sure how affective Mac could have been on Anderson full time. How affective of a post player was Anderson being? Could he have taken T-Mac to the hoop and gotten McGrady in foul trouble? I think that'd have been key. Or was it just Anderson getting scrapy put backs without anyone getting a body on him when the shot when up? I see what your saying with that matchup, but I'm still not sure how well that would have played out.
I, for one, am not glad they lost to NO on their home court. This is the end of the season, the playoffs are around the corner, every win is crucial, and there should be no reason as to why a bunch of seasoned veterans can't step it up and play the way they are capable of doing so.
Anyone who is worried that Houston can't beat Dallas in the first round better not claim Houston is a title contender.
If T-Mac were to guard Anderson exclusively, then I guess Clarence Weatherspoon or Scott Padgett would have to gaurd Lee Nailon? That would not work either, especially if the Spoon was on the perimeter guarding Nailon, and the Rockets, already getting killed on the boards would have a tall high flying Anderson Offensive boarding on a shorter T-Mac and take away Spoon's Defensive rebounds. JHo, though not great, is sorely missed. And of course this team Needs Yao if they're going anywhere in the playoffs.
This game was a gamble to rest Yao's leg. They should have won the game, but blew it. However Yao's leg should be better for the Suns.
Is anybody other than myself worried about the team's energy level and fatigue? This team is old and the Hornets loss might be a result of the players running out of gas. See the team's recent shooting slump. That looks more like a consequence of fatigue than of lack of focus.
