A Chinese told you "金" means bad luck? It cannot be true. I am a Chinese and most Chinese love to wear gold, as I remember.
That's why I work for myself so some jackweed who doesn't know **** about me can't judge me based on a tattoo or my hair or the car I drive or the clothes I wear. What I do with my body is my business and if other people don't want to hire me for it, I don't want to work for them anyway.
How ironic that while I am reading this thread, I am listening to Danzig's first album. I can picture the Demonic Elvis with a "mother" tattoo.
i'm getting it on my arm. i mean getting your name tattooed is bad luck. my name just happens to be "gold" in chinese. some chinese girl told me.
Whoa whoa whoa... you didn't know what your name was in Chinese until some Chinese girl told you what it meant? So you have been walking this earth for, oh, I don't know... 20 years or more knowing that your name was Chinese but you didn't know what it meant? Odd. Please explain that one. By the way, my name don't mean sh*t and I ain't seen anyone tattoo their own name on their arm... maybe their mom's and sisters or kids' names, but not their own... ... so what else have your friends convinced you to do?
hmmmm.... i re-read my post and i can see how it's confusing. let me re-iterate. my name means gold in chinese... that's a fact. it's a response to a previous post on why would the word gold be bad luck. it's not... my name just happens to be that. some girl told me that having a tattoo of your own name is bad luck.
IMO, I think tattoos can be very nice. If it is something that really means something to you, then its not only about it meaningful, but its about remembering when you got it, what you were doing, etc. When you're 50, maybe you won't get a high paying job, but maybe you will look at your tattoo and remember your youth fondly.
I've been thinking about getting "otoko wa kokai shinai ikikata o" in Japanese characters tattooed on me. It means, "A man should live life in a manner with which he will have no regrets". Then I was thinking that it would be kind of ironic if I started regretting having that tattoo. I still strongly agree with the statement, but maybe I'll just get it engraved in a necklace or something instead.
Maybe it's just me, but if I were actually thinking about getting something tattooed in a language unknown to me, I'm pretty damn sure that I'd want to double and triple check the accuracy of what I wanted. Why the hell would you just walk into some random shop and ask some total stranger for some phrase and trust him to actually write it correctly? Maybe I'm just really picky about what happens with my body.
You don't need to get a tattoo. You need to get a chick to get a tattoo with your name like Tucker Max
