Damn right, Fatty! You tell them! I don't even live in Texas and even I KNOW that real chili does NOT have beans in it! You don't understand how frustrated and annoyed I get when I eat chili here and it has *****ing beans in it! ARGH!!

If people were saying Texas Red Chili is supposed to have beans, I would understand being up in arms.

Let's face it though, most people use the term chili as a generic.

The anger is misplaced -- the real target should be the absolute garbage from Cincinnati that they call chili. Now that schit is DISGUSTING! Hints of cinnamon and chocolate in the "chili". It's awful

Nah, she lost the job to someone else. She's still looking for a marketing job, as that is her forte.

My Dad once won a chili cook-off with a white bean chili.

Beans are a cheaper protein alternative to meat. I think the people that eat chili by necessity would put anything they can get in with the peppers that make whatever it is taste good (including something a little rancid since there was little refrigeration )

The more you toot the better you feel

Beans have no place in Chili.

I'm with you Bigtexxx. I used to date a girl from Ohio and one of the things that caused problems was that. As Rimmy notes Chili is meat and spices in a tomato base not some beany spaghetti sauce.

Sorry to hear. I thought the idea with the social media was a good one and well done, too bad they did not appreciate it enough, apparently.

I'll eat it either way. Good food is good food. My mom is from Nicaragua and she developed her own Chili recipe over the 30 years that she's lived in Houston and it has beans. She makes it every year for the Super Bowl.

Señor Fatty, where is my FaceBook "Chili doesn't have Beans, y'all!" page so I can go "Like it"?

 I am not from Texas, but I got here as fast as I could (mainly 'cuz I just had to cross the river :p ).

I believe this issue should put us in the RED in Texas Homeland Security's alert system.

 That's what SHE said (not your mom, though, your mom's cool.)

I've lived in Houston all my life and I put beans in my chili.

That being said when I go to James Coney Island, I do not want beans in my chili. They serve it either way.

chili originated w/ poor hispanics around san antonio and they used whatever they could afford - meat was expensive so beans were frequently used. chili simply refers to the hot chili peppers used. you had chili con carne, but you also had chili con frijoles.

the cowboy culture propagated the 'texas chili does not have beans' myth - out on the cattle trail they had an ample supply of meat so they did not have to use beans...eventually it became a status thing - "aint no beans in my chili".

that being said, i dont put beans in my chili.
