I'm curious... who's been around since the beginning?

I came here first in 1999, but didn't find it impressive(How...No Idea), so I searched another year for a good Rocket's site...Never found one.

Then I think I ran across the link at SOR.com and came over here and loved it.

I read the BBS for about a day and then registered.

 

Hey! I remember you (well, your old moniker anyway)! It's funny what can come back to your mind after little reminders.

 

Isn't it? Sometimes when I see someone who hasn't posted in a LONG time, but is there from the early going, I am kindof like "WOW, how cool! <i>so and so</i> -- he hasn't posted in ages." and it reminds me of the past. I don't recall many people from the older days, but I remember <b>you, AstroRocket</b>, <b>Lord Tree</b> and <b>programmer</b>. Who were some of the old ones?

OH, wait, I remember: <b><i>THIS</i></b> will be a blast from the longer-term past for some (Clutch?) -- do you remember <b>ChiTown</b>? As I recall, he posted a fair amount, but his posts were typically somewhat juvenile (see madplaya) and then got in an argument with Clutch, then got booted. I just remember him very specifically 'cause right after he got kicked, I was watching a Jenny Jones with a guy who called himself ChiTown, and I was like "nah, it couldn't be the same guy, could it?" hehe

Anyone else have stories from the olden days?

 

I first started visiting around late '97 early '98. Don't remember exactly when. I think I might be one of the most infrequent posters. Since 1999: 0.09 posts per day.

I used to post a lot more before heading off to college.

 

I've been visiting since 96.I'm pretty sure that the first time I ever typed anything into a search engine it was "Rockets".

 

Been here since good ole 1996. I was in grad school back then.

Hmm, I wonder if Clutch still has that great "Hakeem is no legend" post I did way back when. I was high of highlighter and book smell when I wrote that.

Also, wheres LHutz? Was that post he had called "Almooo is a hypocrit!" great or what? I remember Clutch posting first and his first words where like "Oh my God! I can't believe what I am reading!" That was the start of the Hutz legend and probably the funniest post of all time. I was rolling reading that.

This site gets better and better!

 

Jeez. AstroRocket, Lord Tree, ChiTown (Haha) man....talk about a refresher course. I recall all of those. I was much more a lurker than I am now back in those days...

 

I'm not quite sure when I started visiting the site. All I know is that I got addicted. I probably first stopped by in 97

 

I remeber seeing clutch's website back in '96. My only internet access was at the library in college(and I think my internet connection now is slow). It would take me hours to visit clutch's site, Rocket Zone, Launch Pad, Nathan's Rocket page, and others. I didn't visit regularly untill mid '97. I was a member of the mailing list, and didn't start posting here untill '99. Clutch should definately repost Super Mario's World.

 

Found the site in 97. Was too afraid to post my first post until 98. Speaking of old school where or where has

Havent seen any of them post in a long long time. I remember When Clutch used to at least post on a regular basis. Now he just seems to sit in his Rocket Kingdom up on Clutchcity.com...err .Net mountain, looking down on his creation. I remember the first time he got me with an april fools joke, and the really funny thing is the very next year, he got me again on April fools. (Spurs...ack)

I kinda miss the ol (ahem the real) LHutz. Back when he was arguing that he was an attorney. I remember the "Almoo is a hypocrite" post. Good lord. Can remember my first battles with Pole. Dont think I forgot you Pole. And the hype before Scotties arrival. I think I was one of the very few who didnt exactly love the idea of Snottie, in H town. Wow, the memories. Has it really been that long?

 

Wow, I remember the Launch Pad and I found Super Mario around the same time, so I guess '96 for me too.

Wow, it's neat to see all the people who have been here since the early days. As I recall, I found the site once back when it was on the college server, but I didn't have consistent internet access, so I lost it, then found it later that year at cc.com.

It's weird how you can talk about nostalgia and such when it was just 5 years ago . . . like how we all were accessing this page with 14.4 or 9600 baud modems at first

Ok, now that is either really funny, or really scary. Was that you the first time Rocketman or was it Shanna, with you being funny at the end....Hmmmmm.

 

The old Canuck is still here, thedreamshake99, er, Dreamshake. I post less, lurk more and with these enthusiastic 'young guns' coming in and keeping this site busy, I find I have a lot less to say now.

I first found this fine site during the summer of '98, at my summer job in downtown Toronto. I never really considered posting until I got internet access in the december of '98, when I first registered. And like most, I've been hooked ever since.

I have no idea what happened to AntiSonic, he was among the better posters around. The last I heard from him was when he had avery bad dating experience.
I hope the poor guy survived its aftermath. As for the others you mentioned, they all still post from time to time, some more often than others. I thought we has lost you Dreamshake for awhile there as well until you made your return recently.

Hey Clutch; ever considered changing CC.NET's tag line to "Your Procastination Destination" or perhaps "Time well Wasted"?

Oh, man, I'll never forget that thread. Its still he funniest all-time in my opinion. That one was where first came up with the "Duke of Truth" tag, after he had so "sucessfully" argued his point against Almoooooooo.

Anyone here still remember that thread we started during the lockout? It was some kind of turn based story that involved Dennis Rodman (well, towards the end anyway, when it started getting out of hand). I can't quite remember how the rest of it went. Its been quite awhile...

Needless to say, everyone was bored out of their minds at the time.

 

I think I have seen Rocketman95 and AzimTheDream seen on here not long ago. In fact, Rocketman95 seems to post quite regularly.

I don't remember exactly when I first started coming to the site. I do remember that what got me to the site first was something called "Houston Rockets Webring" and that might well have been in 96. I think I first started posting either in late 97 or early 98. Am not sure...

 

I have not been around since the beginning. BUT, this is one of the first sites I found when I got a computer.

So I consider myself, kind of one of the "good" guys here.

Hell, I've been trolling here at least a few times a week for over two years, now!
