How can you been concerned?!? Especially at a time like this! Where would we be right now, with Brooks and Lowry out, if we still had Ariza? Would you want Ariza moving over to play time at the 1?? Yea, he basically played some point guard last season with how long he would dribble the damn ball, and we all saw how poor his ball handling skills really are. To say Lee's defense is over rated is just stupid...not to mention it gives us some much needed defense at the 2 position. What is a bigger upgrade, Lee's defense over Kevin Martin's, or Ariza's defense over Battiers? Not to mention we saved some cap space replacing Ariza with Courtney, and Courtney already has more chemistry with the team than Ariza ever did. Courtney, Ish, and Budinger look like they have been playing together for years, while Ariza did nothing but take stupid shots, dribble too much, and cause locker room issues. If we ever see Courtney play/act like this: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/rumors/...revor-Ariza-has-suspension-com?urn=nba-208461 maybe you can complain.
yeah, where is Rockets now? 1:5, one of the leagues last positions? Even if they played me at SF, I can get Rockets the same results too.
Ariza can not play the 2 guard if he has to handle the ball, which if any of our other small forwards were in, he would have too. If we had a small forward like lebron or Carmelo that had good handling abilities, he could play 2. We don't however, therefor he is limited to playing the 3. Log jam=3 small forwards that need PT
Ariza is over rated. He's long and lanky but doesn't possess quick speed. I think the Rockets did a great job in trading Ariza to get the salary cap lower. What I think the Rockets are in need of is spot up shooters like Reggie Miller. I think the Rockets have too many ball stoppers on the team.
Thanks to the person that repped me with the comment "crap like that will get you on a lot of ignore list - including mine" 1. I don't care. Please place me on ignore. 2. We didn't sign Lee, we traded for him. Please get your facts straight. 3. Ariza was brought in to see if he could handle a bigger role than what he played on the Lakers. He proved throughout the season that he's a role player that is a black hole on the offensive side of the ball. This gets masked on New Orleans where CP3 is a primary ball handler. 4. I'm happy that CBud is eating most of the minutes that Ariza got last year. His upside is so much higher.
Their career FG%s are almost identical and that's including Chase's early struggles from 3pt land this year (you know he's not going to continue to shoot 10%). Ariza is a liability at the FT line for a SF. Ariza also turns the ball over more do to his poor handles (one area where Chase has improved since being drafted). I'm not saying that Ariza is a bad player, I'm just saying that he's a poor fit in Adelman's system with no superstar. Ariza's shortcomings were masked by Kobe and continue to be masked by CP3. While Lee isn't the playmaker on the defensive end that Ariza is, he is certainly a capable and above-average defender. Lee handles the ball well, but is prone to mental lapses (lay-ups and FTs). I think Adelman is the perfect coach for him in the long run.
That's what Morey said. But of course we all know how that worked out. We asked too much of him, and he just wasn't the guy.
