    HOUSTON ROCKETS NYSE Ticker: ROX

    Recommendation: Strong Buy
    Five Stars: *****

    The Houston Rockets have fallen on harder times of late with some operational difficulties at several of its product lines. In the "big and tall products division," the Yao Ming line is out indefinitely upon finding a bug in the most remote area of its design -- it's achilles toe if you will. Sales of Barry Bots, which compete with the Sony Aibo, have stalled while sales for Sura Stoppers for stopping nasal fluids at the source are likewise ailing. Fortunately the flagship T-Mac line remains the strong gravy train for ROX. CEO Jeff Van Gundy remains optimistic and has chosen not to diworsify from its current strategy. And on the brighter side Head Detergent has been doing more than cleaning house for the ROX. Yet at a P/E ratio fo 5, even Anna Kournikova can get excited about this house.

    Target: 55 wins, 31 losses

    Another fact, while insider SageHare6 publicly promoting ROX, he is selling it blocks by blocks.

    that's a good point. Not to mention this would hurt the Rockets chances in getting a premier or high caliber PF (which IMO is more important than a swingman)

    Does anyone know what year into the contract RJ is in?

    It's a deal. In fact, my $100 just went in, because when we make the playoffs, I'll be even happier to have put it to a good cause.

    Jefferson is signed all the way through 2010. It wouldn't be worth it at all in my opinion. First of all, taking on a $12 million dollar contract in addition to what we'll be paying TMac and Yao next year is an absolutely horrible move. Those three players would practically take up the entire salary cap.

    Second, Jefferson is a full BYC player. It's impossible to trade for Jefferson by himself due to his BYC restriction. We would be unable to trade more than 115% of his 6 million outgoing + 100,000...since New Jersey can't take back more than that. AND, we wouldn't be unable to give up less than a certain amount...because 12 million incoming would have to be less 115% of whatever we give up + $100,000.

    Hmm...if that paragraph above is confusing the hell out of you, here are the concrete numbers. RJ's BYC status sets his outgoing value at $6 million. As a result, New Jersey can't take back more than $7 million in salary in a trade. However, his incoming value for us is still at $12 million. So...we can't give up less than $10.34 million in salary. If they can't take more than 7, and we can't give less than 10.34...then it's impossible to trade for RJ by himself. Several other players will have to be involved, or you'll have to take a trade exception (but I'm not too sure about the details of how those work exactly)

    Bottom line is: since he's a full BYC player, we'll probably end up taking more salary than we're giving up, regardless of what kind of trade you cook up. We'd be more screwed cap-wise than we already are...and without relief until 2010.

    BTW, I'll need one of our resident capologist to correct any mistakes I may have made. NIKEstrad, GATER, aelliot? Y'all there? :)

    Rox and Stocks

    Yao = LENOVO (Hong Kong)
    The perfect marriage of Eastern capitalism with Western capital

    McGrady = MICROSOFT (MSFT)
    How can you fight Mr. Softee? The bluest of blue chips. McGrady and MSFT kick major butt.

    Juwon = GM (GM)
    Old School goodness but looking more and more like a dinosaur each day

    Stromile Swift = EMC (EMC)
    Lots of potential but managerially directionless

    Deke = SYMANTEC (SYMC)
    Best package in the house. Need a (virus) defender? (Spam) Assassin? (Pop-up) Blocker? Deke's your man

    Bob Sura = RADIOSHACK (RSH)
    Where else can you find spare parts - like a back and a knee - cheap?

    Jon Barry = MCDONALD'S (MCD)
    He's Ronald, Grimace, and Hamburgler rolled up in one body

    Check'em out

    Thanks for sharing...

    I don't see how the Rockets don't make that trade.

    You have a chance to get a Richard Jefferson, you gotta go for it.

    Ron Artest lite, perhaps. Without all the baggage.

    rj is 6 years/78 million though.

    TMac + Yao + RJ = a lot of money. Would ROX be able to sign other players?

    Well, I say at least let Stro play 30+ min per game before trading him to any body else. We all expect him to flourish if he starts. Make the deal if we are sure he isn't the right man.

    Why shouldn't everyone panic? We're 2.5 games out of the 8th spot, and we only have 5 months to catch-up.

    If "buy low sell high" is always correct, now is the time to buy, because the Rockets are as LOW as it gets. Well, it could only get worse if TMac goes out then it is a YMCA team against the world. Will that be "professional" basketball? I think not. Instead of Clutch City it becomes "Pick Up" City, Moochie and friends going half court. Folks, this is grim, it is so grim it is humourous. Our front line will be Howard, Bowen, and Swift. Our backcourt will be TMac and Wesley/Head. The Rockets may not get more than two or three rebounds a game, and will be lucky to score 80 points, and that is if TMac gets at least 60. Buy, the stock can only go up, maybe.
