Are you calling tipjar bet? I'll put $ 100.00 in the tip jar if they make the playoffs. You put $ 100.00 in if they don't.

I need to hit the tipjar again, anyway. I'll drop $ 10.00 every time they score over 100 :). I'll drop something in for christmas wishes, too.

It's sucks that the Rockets have had so many injuries already this season. Outisde of maybe the season opener, we have yet to play a game with a fully healthy team. And things have definitely gotten worse. But our schedule is soft and we still have T-Mac. The Lakers, right now hold the 8th seed and are barely over .500. If this team can hover around the .500 mark until some of these players return, then I'll think we'll be ok. There is never, ever justification for tanking a season (especially in a league where having the worst record doesn't translate to the first pick), unless you're the 2-12 Texans.

we are only a few games above the worst team in the league anyway. there is 4 months left to the season. we don't need that much time to catch them. if we aren't in the playoff hunt at the end of february (2 months left to the season) that means we aren't that far off from the bottom. 2 months will be enough time to tank.

why start now when there is a chance? i don't think it's fair to give up on the season yet.

i'm selling my ROX stock. 3 starters out for a significant amount of time. 3 of our back ups a no-go. tmac can only do so much. i forsee a lot of losing.

To whoever asked about Richard Jefferson trade -

I know someone in the organization and s/he says that there are talks involving the Rox sending David Wesley and the Stro Show to NJ for Richard Jefferson. S/he doesn't know if it's going down but s/he says the talks are going on. So take that for what it's worth.

One thing is good: better to make the playoffs as a #6 or a #7 seed anyway.

#8 seed? Perish the thought of a first-round exit at the hands of the Spurs.

I'm not in panic mode about Yao; it's the fact that we have so many injuries on top of that.

We're still looking for a point guard (interest in Earl Watson); if we have any more injuries, we'll be offering Ryan Bowen and a pick---that's all we'll have left.

Even though Jefferson isn't a PF, he'd help us with rebounding a lot more than Swift I think.

Oh, I had a dream last night that Yao played against the Raptors with the bad toe. Take that for what it's worth... ;)

I will say one thing, I LOVED the win over the lakers as much as any Rockets fans BUT .....

We were so freakin lucky in that game! We gave the Lakers the game and they simply did not want it. They shot horribly just like we did. Did you guys see the horrible horrible offense (with the exception of the 3rd quarter). We looked soo lost out there and out of sync. The only reason we won that game is because David Wesley had a season high game and went off. This team is built around the playing post up ball with a center in the middle. To be forced to switch to an entirely different game all together is hard enough, but having to do it with so many starters out is nearly freakin impossible.

Macalu is right, there is only so much T-Mac can do, especially now that he will be double and tripled teamed with NO RELIABLE SECOND OPTION. His Orlando Magic days should have taught us that. The Laker game was a wake up call. Don't expect too many 3rd quarters like we had against them, in my opinion that was a fluke. If T-Mac is being triple teamed, and our guys cannot knock down their shots (which is all too common with this team with the exception of Head). Look for a long long dissappointing three weeks.

Oh yeah one more thing. We will suck on the boards. Combine it all together and it is not looking good for our beloved Rockets. :(

Well unlike you guys I am actually looking forward to the new lineup...

I predict they will go .500 without any problems...

Heck if El Van Scrooge let's them RUN, I predict they will only lose 1 maybe 2 games.

In the 2nd half EVS let the guys run and they looked good.

Stro will handle the Center position just find... Plus if they are running he has no time to think about what to do only to react..

I will take some of that stock in then some...

Does this mean you recently visited Vegas??? What are the odds for the Rockets to win it all anyway.

Well I'd say it's fairly reliable and this person told me of the T-Mac trade well before any news media picked it up, told me of Stro's signing and countless other transactions. However, this person is not involved in any decision making or anything near it and it more of a fly on the wall type of person. This person is right probably 75% of the time.

sounds pretty solid to me. Now, given our current depleted roster (esp at Center position), would you trade stro/wes for RJ?

I can see how this deal works for both teams, it's a 'best talent' deal, although we are back to square one with our PF problems.

Considering a significant SG/SF upgrade in RJ, i think this is worth it.

On a talent level, I'd do it in a heartbeat. Heck - I'd take RJ over Swift even at power forward. He's a very good player - a poor man's Drexler maybe - and a very good rebounder and defender. A great 3rd option on offense too - but not a great outside shooter and not sure about his handles.

RJ's contract is the only thing I may have a problem with. I think it's at 6 years/78 million.

How much $$ would be left after TMac/Yao/RJ ? Enough to sign the O'Bannon brothers?

I'm with you, Will. All this doom and gloom is reminiscent of the second championship year when we had massive injury problems. I remember when Elie broke his wrist on the rim and a friend of mine was crying in his beer as he commented that we would be one of the only defending champions ever to not make the playoffs the next year.

We need to maintain a decent record for a few weeks until Yao gets back and then make a hard push for the playoffs. For those of you who are recalling TMac's last year in Orlando, look up the two years prior to that where he brought the Magic to the playoffs nearly solo and darned near took out the Pistons (who went on to win the Finals).

TMac can help us float to a .500 record while Yao is out. After that, we should be able to push into the 6th or 7th spot.
