I don't see anything innovative or unique. It looks like a rip off of things that Infinity Ward established like all their other games. It looks like the same boring crap to me. The ONLY thing I like is the gun customization, but that doesn't warrant 60 bucks from me. And with their history, I don't trust them in making decent games. You absolutely have to look at the people that make games. For instance, I don't like the multiplayer games bad by DICE either. I hate the style they use in the Battlefield series and that is what turned me off of Medal of Honor as I found they worked on that as well.
The multiplayer of Black Ops cant even be compared to MW2...unless you are just saying that they are both the same thing because guns are involved along with teams, and maps...and at the end, a winner is declared. I agree that those elements are the same in both games. But, Black Ops will be a much better experience than MW2. And its not innovative? Almost the entire multiplayer experience is innovative and unique.
They are using the same engine that infinity ward created, and they always have. The same general perks are in the game, there are still far too many killstreaks, etc. Can you give me one truly unique aspect about the game that is not just a cutting back on or scaling back of something infinity ward has already done?
Why does it matter if they are using the same engine that IW created? If it works, it works. Anyways, to answer your question, I wont name one truly unique aspect...I'll name a handful. And there are more. The Currency system. One in the Chamber. Sharpshooter. Sticks and Stones. Gun Game. Killstreaks that dont stack, unlike COD4 and MW2...so it doesnt really matter that there are lots of killstreaks. Attaining them is much harder. Customization. To be fair most multiplayer fps games nowadays use pretty much the same engine or a variation of it. It has been happening since unreal tournament.
The MW2 series has grown so much, even with its flaws people are going to buy Black Ops. I do see your point that people are going to expect more changes but will be let down. Hopefully that is not the case but if it is, I think most people that I know will still play it and because of that so will I. i buy one video game a year. This year its got to be Black Ops.
I think they have started or will start selling the game in Katy Mills. 3d games the store is called. I've heard rumblings on other websites as well. Does anyone who live in the area know about this or can check it out?
Ahhh...I love Unreal Tournament...I remember playing on my Dreamcast...I have a version on my PS3 that I pick up every once in a while...the good old days...
This definitely plays a big role. Myself and none of my friends seem interested in this game due to the track record, so when the people you play with aren't getting it, you probably wont either.
after watching the hour long video of black ops....... medal of honor just feels so dull and watered down, i'm disgusted that i paid $60 for it
I had this mentality with cod4 and waw. The only difference this time is that mw2 isn't as great as mw1, so it's worth moving on from...
Yeah, if that's your thing then go for it. I thought GoW2's multiplayer was underwhelming, but I think it just wasn't my thing. I had a lot more fun on horde. Pretty much stopped playing the game after a few times through the campaign. Anyways, in relation to our previous discussion: I regret not buying WaW because the zombies mode was really fun. So, if nothing else, the single player and zombie modes will keep me occupied with Black Ops. My point is, you should give Black Ops a chance even though you think it's just a mw2 clone. If nothing else, hey you love(d) mw2, so you may enjoy this as well. Plus no "one man army" = heaven.
N Let me stress how great zombies actually is. The game by itself is solid enough for me to buy this game. The box spans in a different spot everytime so there is no set pattern to playing the level. You could go through several doors and not find it. The zombies not only come in through the Windows but through holes in the ceiling. So each time you fire up zombies its a new game trying to find the box. The single player game is pretty sweet, and for those of you who love the old school WWII COD there is some ppsh sweetness for you on a level.
Gears horde mode is great IMO. The rest of the multiplayer is forgetful, but they seem to be adding a lot more to it. As for zombies, I thought it was really just a gimmick, if I wanna kill zombies, ill play left4dead. The basics of the online play for black opaque is still too noob friendly for me (absurd kill streaks, noobtubes, thumpers, etc.)
