    Heh.

Well, I think a larger point is, even if somehow an immigration wall is built...

...we'd have to pull the thing down eventually, like somebody mentioned, Berlin-wall style. Kinda wasteful, really.

...And the sad(der) part about that is I don't see a Latin American "Reagan" on the horizon telling Donald Trump after his 4th or 5th term:

    Senor Trump...derribar este muro!

That's the thing... the trump-branded wall has become such a "white whale" for trump and his supporters that they are diverting money from proven security measures to fund the wall...

The Trump administration is so desperate for a border wall that it is cutting border security measures that have been proven to work

For Trump we ALL know the answer even his ardent supporters who post on this message board.

He couldn't give two ***** about border security. He just knows what works in his MAGA rallies and screaming "build that Wall" made his supporters happy and that is all that he cares about. His perception.

Of course not. If it was the discussion wouldn't be around a wall, it would be around manpower & drones, which would would be needed to make the wall effective anyway.

Right, and if alcohol was illegal, he wouldn't have been drunk and the innocent people (there were 2 fatalities) would still be alive. That wasn't hard now was it?

    The reality is that
Yeah. A large portion of illegal immigrants in the USA are people that entered the USA legally but overstayed their visa. Building a wall will have little impact on those people. A large portion of illegal immigrants also come into the USA via plane.

I don't know that a physical wall will make much difference (I am open to the possibility that it may, just haven't seen any evidence), especially with illegal immigration from Mexico flat lining. Honestly seems like we have bigger concerns.

What is the rate of crimes committed by illegal immigrants (who have been deported), compared with the crime rate among the general population?

Honestly every time he brings up the wall the Dems should finish his point "...that Mexico will pay for."

Make him hold up to the other part of his promise, he needs to own up to the fact that he said Mexico would pay for the wall. Schumer should tell him that he'll be happy to grant him the wall once he gets Mexico to pay for it and leave it at that.

They keep trying to blur the line between criminals and civilians just because they're here illegally. This is something that trump has been doing since the 'rapists' comments before he became the president. If it had been a St louis Rams Linebacker, Little, killing a photographer's loved one, because he was drunk after a superbowl, trump never makes this tweet.

Everyone is touchy about having people that are not legally documented in their country. Mexico hates it that people from guatemala go there illegally, going as far as sabotaging routes. Honduras got into a war because too many from el salvador were migrating there, titled the "football war" it lasted just a little longer than MY president's erection but a war nonetheless.

Find a bipartisan solution to address it.

25 billion in drones now that would be unbelievable. If I'm trying to cross the Big beautiful desert to get to texas and I see a swarm of drones, I'm thinking skynet. That's the first thing on my mind. Believe me, I'm running faster than usain bolt back to central america. I can do that. I have that type of speed. Best athlete at my High school. Could have gone pro. Also deserts lack big water. I just found that out.

No, people would still drink. Remember, we tried that. Unless you are one of those open border nut jobs, you have to accept that there will be immigration laws and they should be enforced....and when they are not, these kinds of things will happen.

Being here illegally means that their presence is a violation of the law in itself....you don't have to call them "criminals" if you don't want to, but no matter what you call it, their continued existence in the country is a crime.

Well I think one has been proposed, it would give a path to citizenship to DACA people in exchange for border security funding including building a physical border and changes to chain migration rules.

It's a win/win....which is why Democrats don't want to support it because #Resist

They know if they support the bill it'll be one more accomplishment in Trump's presidency that will cost them in the midterms. They'd much rather the DACA people get deported so that they can blame Trump for it rather than do anything positive.

He deported twice, so immigration laws were enforced.

I wonder what the President thinks about the other 28 people (statistically speaking) that day that were killed by drunk drivers.

Sure, and that's why there is a need for a physical border along with enhanced surveillance of the border so that people like him can't just walk back in after being deported. I would also support making illegally being in the country after a prior eviction a misdemeanor that would carry a short prison sentence before a 2nd deportation and being caught illegally in the country after a 2nd deportation should be a felony.

If all of those things happened, you'd get a handle on the illegal immigration problem pretty quickly.

No, but it does help these alt-righters use it to attack millions on the actions of one.

By their logic every white man is about to gun down 50 people
