I watched the game this morning and my big complaint with Alston was his defense not his offense. Offensively speaking he was horrible in the 1st half but very good in the 2nd half. Not all that unusuall for an NBA player. Defensively speaking he was just plain bad. Deron Williams ran all over the place last night and created tons of shots. When Deron was not shooting the ball he was still making the defense adjust to him and then he would pass the ball to Boozer or someone else for the basket. My question is this...is Rafer really that bad on defense or is Deron that good on offense? Luther did no better trying to keep up with Deron than Rafer did. Luther just looked very bad as well. If Deron continues to play like that he is looking at an all star game this year.
What on earth does this meandering rant have to do with the fact the Rockets should have never traded Mike James for Alston? Some of you "he's a great fit" folks are just never going to see the light of reality. But we can agree on one thing...there will be an accounting after 81 more.
Say you're right. What does that trade have to do with this season and who is going to be held accountable? CD? He's gone. JVG? He's got bigger problems. How about Les, who probably vetoed the trade kicker James wanted this year? I just don't understand the retro thinking at this point.
This is true. V-Span should have been given a chance but then again JVG might have some plan in the works.
Hey! What you got against ****** women? They help keep you warm in the winter after all... I don't know about TMac yet but my biggest fear is that his back problems have turned him into a jumpshooter and a volume jumpshooter at that. I have no clue what's up with Bonzi - this whole Bonzi thing is very strange. Now they're saying he won't play until next week - what's up with that?
deron is a tough matchup for rafer. he's a good player (in much better shape than last year) and hes a big strong PG. although i do think v-span would have matched up better defensively
There's a whole lot of them on this board. I wonder if JVG, besides buying Red Rowdies tickets, also paid couple hundred people to sign up on the board and sing his praises! The man is slick!! He is doing anything to keep his job! Lots of *hugz and kissez* for you. pssst....I will send you some $$ over the paypal as agreed.
Its call denial and it's a disease that has plagued this board for a while now. If you deny that there is a problem in the first place, you dont need to spend any time thinking to fix it.
As are about 50 other PGs in this league. Maybe we need to play those 1 or 2 teams that Rafer does match up well against, atleast 50 times times over the season.
Mike James??? You are aware that when James was on the Rockets he shot more shots per minute than Yao, right? No thank you. Mike James should NOT have been the second option on the Rockets. Mobley had the same problem.
That is true, but Alston has never been aq STARTING point gaurd until his last year in Toronto (a pretty crappy team at the time). On a team like the rockets, who are looking to contend for a championship, he is not the answer. He would be great coming off the bench, but he is not a starter.
You live and die with your superstars. If you want somebody to take the blame for the loss, condemn T-Mac for poor shot selection and Yao for his rustiness. Rafer is not the problem of the team, at least not the only one. Granted you can always get a "better" PG, PF etc. You can even assemble a team comprises Nash, Kobe, Lebron, KG, Yao etc. - in the fantasy league or your own pipe dream. Rafer is a decent point guard. He doesn't shoot exceptionally well. He is constantly get passed by his man. But he is decent post passer and have relatively low TO. Once these players begin to glue together and play like a team, everyone will get better, so does Rafer.
Then tell me why the Lakers are living without Kobe, why the Pacers lived without S Jax Oneal and Artest? Im curious to hear this one
I think jvg basketball is really bad...i mean he's not helping to the cause at all with his morbid attitude even though we might be outmatched in the PF position and PG position..it's still his fault though..we had an WHOLE OFFSEASON to fix but these positions with reasonable players. Other teams play well with injuries and still WIN because they have a good coaching style ..it's the coaching style..not nucleus of players. It's so easy to see a good team from a bad team too..houston last year and last game was a BAD team because they just didn't play as a TEAM on OFFENSE and DEFENSE. 40+ bad games with no teamwork is a cause for concern
