He did this all season last year. He CHOKES when the pressure gets high. Exactly the kind of PG that gets killed in playoffs.
It isn't one game people...Alston was terrible as soon as the ink was dry on the trading of Mike James for him.
Chill out, how bout we wait and see if he even needs to be excused. I would take 3-8 from 3pt. land any day of the week(37.5%, for some of you who don't understand is good). Some of you guys are babies and need to grow up. He had a hell of a preseason and his shot looks much better due to him working on it EVERY DAY in the offseason. Give him a freakin break and you will eat crow by season's end.
With all of your mindsets you act like seasons are interchangeable. The way some of you think is that people don't improve and won't improve from season to season which is absolutely illogical. Yes, it is ONE game in the 2006-2007 season, how does that affect Rafer's season last year with basically a different team. I am going to give him time THIS year to see how much he has improved with respectable players around him. I will not be asking for his head after one semi-subpar game especially after the solid preseason.
The truth and nothing but the truth. Why this is not obvious to the Rocket's organization utterly amazes me. When the team is being blown out or has a huge lead, Alston can make shots. When the shots are critical, he rarely makes them. He gets abused on defense by EVERY guard in the league, consistently. I think he overdribbles and I think VSpan makes a better entry pass to Ming than he does. Admittedly, VSpan's shot isn't a thing of beauty and he does not have Alston's "handles" which is Alston's strong point, but, he has that "Sura-like" toughness I love. I hope he gets more of a chance to prove himself. About three years ago, the board was filled with posts about needing a PG and a PF. Little has changed.
Well he does seem impervious to bricks. BTW TMac obviously can't shoot either... we should trade him for a better player. Tell me, am I serious or am I joking.
You sound like someone I was watching the game with. Yes, he was annoying too. Also, to kill any credibility he had with basketball, he still thinks that Steve Francis is a superstar.
It seems that plenty of people want to say it, but it doesn't seem like he deserves more of the blame than the rest of the team for last night. He was actually our best 3pt shooter and helped make what ever run we did make against the Jazz. This is just another in a long line of stupid threads that I guess we can expect after any Rocket's loss.
Francis sucks. He has the same IQ level as my pet. If my pet could dribble like him, it would be in the NBA too, and i would I been its agent. I would NEVER EVER let it get traded to the Knicks though. Yeah I am annoying but deep down inside i am very nice and gentle. Chics dig me. *Hugz and Kissez*
I completely agree, Alston does not deserve more of the blame for last night, not at all. The "stinkathon" was a team effort, no doubt. My concerns with him are longstanding, and I see something in VSpan I really like. Of course, a healthy Sura would be the best possible news. Remember the PG is the quarterback of the team which explains the attention his play gets. Isn't this board about the fans playing coach, GM, and owner? It is just a fantasy, enjoy it. Opinions are only stupid if you disagree with them, right?
VSpan over Alston anyday anytime VSpan can bring some passion to our game, yesterday we looked dead, but who doesnt under JVG
My problem with Alston last night (and generally) was not that he didn’t shoot the ball well, but that he just didn’t do a good job of setting the tone for the team early on in the game. We settled for outside jumpers and we weren’t aggressive early on, and that set the tone for the entire night. I don’t want a point guard that’s going to settle for taking eight 3-pointers. I want one that has only one thing on his mind at all times, attack, attack, attack. Make the defense work. Keep them on their toes at all times. Don’t let them off the hook by settling for jumpers all night long. The problem with Alston is he just doesn’t have that aggressiveness to his game. He doesn’t have that quick first step that allows him to blow by his defender and break down the defense. As a result, he settles for 3-pointers a lot. When our point guard is not aggressive, we don’t have an aggressive team.
You are only annoying to those JVG lovers and Rox Management apologists. You posts speak the truth and are very entertaining. Keep it up!
