I'm curious what some of the "pro-illegal immigration" people here think about Mexico's southern border - how they keep an armed military presence there. Fox seems to push for one standard here in the US and another standard on his own southern border. Before flaming me please read my previous posts. I am very divided on this issue. I would be cool with: 1. fenced border and/or enforcement of immigration laws including deportation, etc. 2. general amnesty to all illegals without criminal records currently abiding in US 3. loosening of immigration process (I'm cool GW's guest worker progam in theory - dunno much about the details) In general - an "easier", but enforced immigration policy including punishing companies that hire illegals - but AFTER steps 2 and 3. I'm not an immigration attorney (I'm not even good-looking enough to pretend to be one on TV) so I don't really know the laws, etc.
always fun to bump old threads.... FB is still going at this. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/052908dnmetapartment.3af44c62.html
I saw this tonight on the news tonight...F'n Farmers Branch...They plan to continue to go thru with this...crazy... I agree the town has no right to determine who is illegal or not, as its a federal issue..Kind of sad how a town can use the services of illegals and try to ban them from their city at the same time...
very touchy subject. pro: not realistic to kick out all illegal immigrants they provide man power for the really low paying jobs they pay sales taxes when they purchase stuff theyre looking to improve their families future most are hard working can make them into guest workers (legal) and collect income tax cons: breaking the law increase demands on social infrastructures many live in poverty which may lead to more crime will eventually shift the balance of political power i think the us should build some type of physical barrier. although it will not stop all illegal immigrants it will atleast stem the tide. Building and maintence would create new jobs (although it may very well be build by illegal immigrants ) the us also needs to update its immigration policy. seems like if youre not someone who is wealthy/seeking political asylum/has a certain level of education or skill, you cant get legal residence. why not a guess worker program that leads to citizenship. or have more military service options. I think the biggest fear is that it will alter the political landscape. Especially in states like texas and california.
To me, the problem is much more basic than that. If a landlord wants to rent his property to an individual, why should a government tell him whom he can take rent from? What if a foreign individual with no immigration status wanted to rent a house in Farmer's Branch to stay in when he came to visit? A government is going to tell him that he can't? Silliness.
Agreed...I think in general, you have a city govt. trying to do things that legally, it shouldn't be doing...granted I agree witht he pros/cons list danny317 but Farmer's Branch has no right to tell a landlord who can rent to...Again, dallas sux...
